Chapter 1 - THE LAST LIGHT OF NEXARIS

CHAPTER ONE: The Last Light of Nexaris (Intro Scene)

The sky was no longer a sky.

It burned.

Crimson cracks spread across the heavens like shattered glass, spilling waves of molten light over the towering cities of Nexaris. The once-glorious planet—home to humanity's greatest achievements—was collapsing into chaos.

Explosions roared across the horizon.

Floating structures fell from the air like dying stars.

And above it all… something moved.

A shadow.

No—

A hunger.

It did not have a fixed form. It shifted, twisted, expanding endlessly as though the very concept of shape could not contain it. Wherever it passed, everything vanished—buildings, light, even sound itself, swallowed into nothingness.

The Devourer had awakened.

Deep beneath the surface, inside a collapsing research facility—

"Containment has failed!"

"Sector Seven is gone—no, erased!"

"Energy readings are spiking—it's spreading faster!"

Panic filled the chamber. Scientists rushed across holographic panels, their hands trembling, their voices breaking.

At the center of the room stood a sealed capsule.

Inside it—

A young man.

Motionless.

Barely conscious.

Cables ran through his body, glowing faintly as streams of data surged into him.

Ryan Kairo.

Not a soldier.

Not a genius.

Just a discarded subject chosen because no one else remained.

A sharp alarm pierced the air.

"Outer defenses have collapsed! We have less than three minutes!"

Silence fell for a split second.

Then—

A woman stepped forward, her eyes cold despite the chaos.

"We have to activate it."

One of the scientists froze. "W-What? No! The Nano Engine isn't complete! If we force the integration now, it could—"

"—It could kill him?" she cut in.

Her gaze hardened.

"If we don't, humanity dies with this planet."

No one argued again.

Inside the capsule, Ryan's eyes fluttered.

Blurred shapes.

Faint voices.

His body felt… heavy.

Cold.

Then—

A mechanical voice echoed within him.

"Nano Engine protocol… initiating."

"Injection ready!"

"Stabilizers failing—hurry!"

"Energy spike detected from the surface—it's coming closer!"

The woman raised her hand.

For a moment… hesitation.

Then—

"Inject."

A surge of light exploded within the capsule.

Ryan's body arched violently as something tore through his veins.

"AAARRGHHHH!!"

Pain.

Not ordinary pain.

It felt as if his entire body was being rewritten—cell by cell, nerve by nerve.

Data flooded his mind.

Symbols.

Fragments.

Broken sequences.

"Core integration… 12%…"

"Error… Error… System incomplete…"

"Reconstructing… Failed…"

"Switching to adaptive mode…"

"His vitals are crashing!"

"No—wait! They're stabilizing!"

"What is this…? The system is changing on its own—!"

Ryan's scream faded into a strained breath.

His eyes snapped open.

For a brief second—

They glowed.

"Host confirmed: Ryan Kairo."

"Nano Engine… active."

"Core status: unstable."

"Primary directive: Survive. Adapt. Evolve."

"Launch sequence ready!"

The entire facility trembled violently. Cracks tore through the walls as darkness seeped in from above.

Too late.

It had arrived.

"NOW!"

The capsule detached instantly, sealing Ryan inside as layers of metal locked into place.

Thrusters ignited.

With a deafening roar—

It shot upward.

The ceiling shattered.

Flames swallowed everything.

And as the pod broke through the burning skies of Nexaris—

Ryan saw it.

For the first time.

The Devourer.

A boundless abyss stretching across the stars, consuming the planet piece by piece, as if existence itself were being erased.

Nexaris… was disappearing.

Inside the pod, everything went silent.

Systems flickered.

Light dimmed.

"Critical damage detected…"

"Navigation… unstable…"

"Emergency trajectory locked…"

Ryan's vision blurred.

Darkness crept in.

The last thing he saw—

Was his world being swallowed whole.

Then—

Nothing.
