I jogged to the training grounds and apologised to Sean when I arrived, slightly out of breath and later than I had intended.
"It is okay, Alpha is not even here yet," he chuckled, pulling me into a side hug.
From where we stood I could see most of the wolves already warming up across the field. As usual more than a few eyes drifted our way, and I felt the familiar heat climb up my neck. Hugging Sean had become such a habit that I did not even think about the audience until I was already in it.
I pulled away with a small frown and he just laughed at me. Then the atmosphere on the field shifted in that particular way it always did, and I turned to find Phoenix making his way over from the house. His eyes were hard and fixed on the two of us, every step measured and deliberate.
"Go join the girls," Sean said quietly.
