In a hilly forest, the king of snakes, the cobra, lived. Every day he would catch and eat small animals and birds of the forest, such as lizards, mice, frogs, and rabbits. After filling his stomach, he would rest lazily all day. As a result, he became very fat, and his arrogance also increased.
One day the cobra thought, "Now I am the most powerful creature in the forest, and I am the king here. I should live in a big place according to my status so that everyone respects me."
While searching for a new home, he came to a big tree and decided to live there. But in front of the tree, he saw a large mound of ants, where countless ants lived. He did not like it at all. He thought, "These tiny creatures cannot stay in front of my home."
He went near the mound and said to the ants, "I am the king of snakes in this forest. From now on, I will live in this tree. By my order, you must leave this place immediately."The ants listened to the cobra's words but did not leave their place. Instead, they all came out together from their mound and attacked the cobra. Thousands of ants bit the cobra's body at once. The cobra, unable to bear the pain, began to struggle and tried to escape. But the ants did not stop. They continued biting him again and again.
At last, the cobra could not endure the pain and fled from there. Thus, the pride of the arrogant cobra was shattered, and he learned a lesson.
