Chapter 11 - Part 11: The One Everyone Knows

The morning felt different.

Not because of the place—

but because of the quiet tension

that hadn't left since yesterday.

It stayed.

Somewhere between thoughts.

Somewhere between silence.

Stephan's phone buzzed.

He picked it up lazily.

Ketty: Good morning 🙂

He looked at the message for a second.

Then replied—

Stephan: Morning.

Simple.

Expected.

Nothing more.

But his eyes didn't leave the screen.

Because just below that—

was another name.

Pixel.

There was a pause.

A longer one this time.

His thumb hovered over the screen.

Then—

he typed.

Stephan: Good morning.

He stared at it.

Read it once.

Then again.

As if checking if it made sense.

As if it mattered.

And then—

he locked his phone.

🍽️ Breakfast Area

The place was full.

Voices overlapping.

Laughter spreading from one table to another.

The clinking of plates.

The movement of chairs.

Everything felt normal.

Except—

it wasn't.

Pixel sat with Ketty.

Calm.

Composed.

Like always.

Stevan sat beside her—

talking non-stop.

Explaining something with full energy.

Using his hands.

His expressions.

And Pixel listened.

Occasionally nodding.

Sometimes replying.

A small smile appearing—

then disappearing.

Ketty watched them quietly.

A soft smile on her face.

Across the space—

Stephan sat with Johan and Hill.

But his attention—

wasn't with them.

Johan noticed.

Of course he did.

Johan leaned slightly closer.

"Morning message, huh?"

Stephan didn't look at him.

"Just eat."

Hill smirked.

"Not Ketty, right?"

Stephan didn't answer.

Johan laughed.

"Bro is gone."

Hill added—

"Completely."

Stephan ignored them.

But this time—

he didn't deny it either.

His eyes moved—

automatically.

Towards her.

Like they already knew where to go.

And then—

his phone buzzed again.

He looked down.

Pixel: Morning.

Just one word.

No emoji.

No extra effort.

No explanation.

But somehow—

it stayed longer than anything else.

Stephan looked at the screen for a few seconds.

Something about that message—

felt… enough.

Johan leaned in slightly.

"Not replying?"

Stephan locked his phone.

"Later."

Hill shook his head.

"That's worse."

Before Stephan could respond—

something shifted.

The noise around them changed.

Not louder.

But different.

Students started whispering.

Turning.

Looking in one direction.

"Is that…?"

"Wait… seriously?"

"Bro, no way…"

More heads turned.

More voices joined.

And then—

he walked in.

Tall.

Sharp features.

Confident—

without trying to show it.

A presence that didn't demand attention—

but naturally took it.

Someone said it first—

"Daniel…"

And suddenly—

everyone knew.

A senior.

But not just any senior.

Daniel.

The national basketball player.

Famous.

Recognized.

Admired.

Students stood up.

Some waved.

Some called out—

"Daniel!"

"Bro, long time!"

He smiled lightly.

Casual.

Comfortable.

Like he belonged everywhere.

He greeted people easily.

Shook hands.

Gave short replies.

Moved like this was normal for him.

Johan sat up straight.

"Okay… that's Daniel."

Hill nodded.

"Even I know him."

Stephan didn't say anything.

But his eyes—

were already on him.

Watching.

Observing.

Measuring.

One of the students asked—

"What are you doing here?"

Daniel smiled slightly.

"Just around."

A small pause.

Then—

"Missed my juniors a bit."

Laughter spread.

But someone else said—

"You don't come randomly for that."

Daniel shrugged.

"Maybe I had a reason."

The answer was casual.

Light.

But something about it—

felt intentional.

Stephan noticed that.

The way he said it.

The way he didn't explain.

After a few moments—

Daniel's eyes moved.

Across the room.

Slowly.

Scanning.

Until—

they stopped.

On her.

Pixel.

He didn't go immediately.

He stayed.

Talking.

Laughing.

Acting normal.

But the moment—

had already shifted.

From far—

Johan leaned in slightly.

"He's looking at her."

Hill's smirk faded a little.

"Yeah…"

"Competition Start"

Stephan didn't respond.

But his jaw tightened slightly.

Almost unnoticeable.

After some time—

Daniel moved.

Not directly.

Not rushed.

Just naturally.

Like it wasn't important.

But it was.

He reached near her table.

Pixel looked up.

And for the first time—

there was a reaction.

Small.

But real.

"Daniel."

Her voice was calm.

But familiar.

That one word—

said enough.

Stephan noticed immediately.

Daniel smiled slightly.

"Still the same."

Pixel replied—

"You too."

Short.

Simple.

But not distant.

Not like with others.

Ketty looked between them.

Confused.

Trying to understand.

Stevan's eyes lit up.

"You're famous, right?"

Daniel laughed softly.

"Something like that."

He bent slightly—

talking to Stevan easily.

Comfortably.

Like it wasn't new for him.

From a distance—

Johan exhaled.

"This is bad."

Hill nodded slowly.

"Very bad."

Stephan didn't respond.

But his eyes—

didn't move.

Because now—

it was different.

This wasn't like before.

This wasn't someone trying to get close to her.

This wasn't someone she was avoiding.

This wasn't distance.

This—

was familiarity.

And that changed everything.

Because for the first time—

someone else already had a place

in her world.

And this time—

she wasn't pushing them away.

She wasn't creating space.

She wasn't walking away.

She was staying.

And that—

felt heavier than anything else.

Because now—

it wasn't just about getting closer to her.

It wasn't just about understanding her.

It was about something else.

Something sharper.

Something new.

The thought settled quietly—

but strongly.

He wasn't the only one noticing her anymore.

And maybe—

he never was.

But this time—

it felt real.

Because now—

it wasn't just about reaching her.

It was about not losing

to someone

who already knew her.
