Tara noticed that everyone had left the room, leaving Cain and her alone. She sighed, then moved the blanket off her body before tossing her legs toward the ground.
Cain had been observing her. When he noticed that her feet were about to touch the floor, he moved even closer to her and crouched down at her feet.
"The floor is cold. Let me carry you, or wait till I get some slippers, huh?" he said gently.
Tara was stunned by his words. His words, and how he cared, only confused her. She had wanted to ask him a couple of times why he was always like that towards her, but she couldn't bring herself to ask. So she looked away and said, "I'm fine. I want the cold feeling anyway."
"If not for listening to me, then do so for the sake of the baby," Cain said.
That got her. She nodded, and Cain smiled as he stood up and went to get some slippers for her while she waited.
