Chapter 96 - A Day in the Life of an SPW Inspector

"Honey, don't forget your ID badge and hat."

Saxel took his badge, hung it around his neck, and then put on his cap bearing the SPW logo.

After kissing his wife goodbye, he left his single-family staff dormitory and leisurely rode his bicycle to the SPW office building.

Clocking in, picking up the day's inspection sheet, and verifying each item on the list one by one—this was the daily routine of an inspector.

The colleague sitting behind the desk glanced at the wall clock. It was 9:30 AM. He scribbled something on a document, stamped it, and handed it over. "Yo, Saxel, you're early today."

"Of course. My goal this month is an outstanding performance review. An extra two hours of online DingTalk time every day—who could refuse that?"

The Coordinate space. After Zenith's brainstorming, it was ultimately named "Ding World," so much so that many SPW members now loved keeping the phrase "Ding me if you need anything" on the tip of their tongues.

It had to be said, this was definitely Zenith's twisted sense of humor at work.

Wrapping up the brief chat, Saxel swiped his badge to unlock the basement door leading to the 21st underground floor.

Faced with a super-massive portal made of pure gold, Saxel felt nothing out of the ordinary and simply stepped right through.

Nowadays, the first step to joining SPW was shattering a person's concept of money. To every SPW member, money was completely meaningless.

They pursued higher things—for example, having some fun in Ding World.

It was a realm caught between the material and the spiritual, and in the spiritual world, absolutely anything was possible.

Passing through the portal, he first entered a giant corridor. It looked perfectly ordinary, but the moment he stepped out of it, a completely different world instantly unfolded before his eyes.

The Main City.

At first, all the builders had subconsciously followed real-world physics. But when they realized that even solid metal blocks could easily float in mid-air here, these architects completely let loose.

This Main City was the product of them letting their imaginations run wild.

If anything, Zenith felt it looked a bit like Aincrad—a magnificent floating city that could normally only exist in people's imaginations. Stepping in here was like entering a virtual reality game.

The most standard mode of transportation here was the minecart on rails. If you wanted to travel a longer distance, you could opt for the Nether express lane.

Looking out into the distance from here, one could see magnificent wonders that were absolutely impossible to witness in reality. For example, at the far edge of the western horizon, an entire chunk had been mined out into a Void sea.

World Eater machines hundreds of meters tall extracted resources from beneath the earth day and night, continuously transporting them back to the Main City.

Those giant machines, constantly moving forward, only stopped once a day at noon, opening the portals on top to allow staff to change shifts.

"But I heard there's a surplus of materials now. The higher-ups are planning to shut them down for a bit until they optimize the ultra-massive fully automatic sorting system."

Saxel didn't really know what a sorting system was. Redstone technology was like reading hieroglyphics to him; standard physics and chemistry felt much more familiar and comforting.

He had heard the north was planned as a global biodiversity reserve. Rumor had it that a female version of King Arthur and some King of Uruk had established nations there.

Saxel had never been there, but obviously, the northern continent would never end, and the nations built there would surely be countless in the future.

There were no known construction plans for the east and south yet; they still retained their primitive landscapes.

Relatively speaking, Saxel wanted to take a stroll over there. But it was said to be very dangerous—without enough light sources, dangerous monsters would spawn at night.

Ending his pre-work daydreaming, Saxel straightened his clothes and arrived at the World Exchange Hall dedicated to staff.

Not many portals were activated here; most were just portal frames built out of cobblestone acting as placeholders.

"Item one: check the satellite operation status in Magic World Number One... Ah, Miss Serie's hometown."

Serie was absolutely the most familiar otherworldly person to SPW members, bar none. When it came to the technological iteration of magic, Serie deserved the top credit.

Relatively speaking, the magic world side was the busiest. Because of the existence of demons, monsters, and adventurers, the danger level of that world was very high.

Of course, that was the outside world. Over here in Konoha, it was still very safe.

Saxel greeted everyone, then found a machine, logged into his admin account, and started quickly browsing the system logs.

With current technology, if a satellite had issues, sending people up to space to fix it was unrealistic. They usually chose to activate the satellite's backup fuel and push it out of low-earth orbit.

Then they would just have the warehouse approve a new one and launch it. The main vibe was just having the power of money and doing whatever they wanted.

"No issues here. Please sign the form." Saxel handed the sheet over, chatting idly with them. "I see your Konoha is developing very well. It's almost starting to look like it's keeping pace with the Continental Magic Association."

"Nah, we've still got a long way to go. Individual strength is a big issue. The attack power of our modernized equipment is enough, but a lot of times, the biggest problem is that we can't hit the target."

The staff member glanced at the inspection notes, confirmed there were no issues, and signed his name. "But I heard headquarters is planning to transfer an Ultraman legion over to assist recently. I wonder if their combat power is strong enough."

Saxel's mouth twitched. It seemed Konoha would soon become the number one organization on the entire continent.

The combat power of a single Ultraman was already ridiculously strong, and there was actually an Ultraman legion? When was this formed?

Taking the signed document, Saxel took a stroll around Konoha to clear his head, which was dizzy from reading logs.

After having a simple meal there, he transferred from the World Exchange Hall to the Attack on Titan world.

By the time he finished reading the logs for both sides and confirmed there were no issues, it was almost 4:00 PM.

*Time to clock out! Going home to get on DingTalk!*

Although no matter how long you stayed in Ding World, it was only an instant in reality, the truth was that if you played too hard in there, you would get mentally exhausted.

Right now, Ding World only had rows of matchbox houses, but the endless sand was good stuff.

Not only could it be used to sculpt Titans, but you could actually sculpt anything. It was like a lucid dream you could freely control; consciousness determined everything.

Anyway, Saxel preferred lying in bed before entering Ding World. That way, he could fall right asleep after coming out and wake up full of energy the next day.

*Before I knew it, I've already become a veteran employee. Back when I escorted Iggy to find Mr. Zenith, who could have imagined things would develop like this.*

But it was truly wonderful that things turned out this way. Infinite worlds meant infinite choices; everyone could definitely find what they loved.

A second before turning off the lights, the middle-aged Saxel saw his wife walking into the bedroom in her nightgown.

*Alright, Ding World, wait for me for another ten minutes!*
