Chapter 1 - Special Effects on Food

The Labyrinth City, Orario.

A massive city built atop a Dungeon.

Gods gather here, and countless Adventurers come seeking wealth and fame.

As a genuine transmigrator, Lynn was no stranger to this city.

Before transmigrating, he was an 'old artist' who had watched countless films, occasionally watching anime to change his pace.

He had watched two seasons of the anime 'Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?'

If he could choose, he would have preferred to transmigrate into a safe, slice-of-life world to be a copycat writer.

Rather than coming to a dangerous world where gods stir up trouble every other day, and one must fight monsters to the death to become stronger.

But since he was already here, he had to find a way to adapt.

As the ancients said, all roads lead to being a beast of burden, but there are always more solutions than problems.

Pushing his snack cart to the Adventurer's Street in the Northwest District, Lynn set up his stall with practiced ease.

Before long, a group of regular customers spawned nearby.

"One serving of Spicy Fried Rice."

"Coming right up~ Please wait a moment, sir."

Wiping the sweat from his brow with a towel, Lynn took ingredients out of a sack.

The kitchen knife turned into a phantom in his hand; minced garlic and shredded carrots flew through the air, landing precisely in the side dish plate.

He heated the oil, sautéed the spicy spices, added the minced garlic and other ingredients, then tossed in pre-marinated diced meat for a quick stir-fry.

Once the surface of the meat changed color, he poured the rice into the wok, lifting it with one hand to toss it repeatedly. The rice and ingredients formed a perfect arc in mid-air.

A moment later, a dazzling golden light rose from the wok, and an enticing aroma wafted through the air.

Watching this scene, even though she had experienced it several times, a hint of curiosity inevitably rose in Lefiya's eyes.

"There's clearly no Magic fluctuation, so how exactly do you achieve this golden light?"

"It's special effects! I added special effects!"

"What are special effects?"

"A type of Magic item that only smart people can see."

"..."

I think you're treating me like an idiot!

Lefiya silently took out her wallet.

As an elf, she theoretically shouldn't be appearing at a roadside snack stall; an elegant and noble Western-style restaurant should be her destination.

But she couldn't help it; it was just too delicious.

Ever since she passed by the stall a week ago and was drawn by the aroma to order a serving of fried rice, Lefiya had become a fixed NPC here.

"Lynn, are you interested in joining the Loki Familia?"

"Not interested."

"Why? If you come to our Familia as a chef, your income would surely be higher than running a stall."

"I already have a Familia," Lynn replied.

Unlike ordinary Familia's...

The Loki Familia was one of the two major Familia's in Orario, with a complete logistics system.

A large Familia like this wouldn't hire members of other Familia's to work for them, to avoid trouble.

"Eh? You have a Familia?"

Lefiya was stunned for a moment upon hearing this news, a look of surprise appearing on her face.

"Then why do you set up your stall every day? Don't you go to the Dungeon?"

"Because there's no need. The money I make from my stall is enough to support me and my goddess."

"I see."

Lefiya looked at the black-haired youth before her.

Even by an elf's standards, Lynn's appearance was very handsome.

A calm temperament, handsome looks, excellent cooking skills, and peculiar promotional methods...

Combined, these factors allowed Lynnto accumulate a large number of loyal customers in a short time, with an income comparable to a Level 2 Adventurer.

Under such circumstances, there was indeed no need for him to risk his life in the Dungeon.

"I'm just an ordinary person; fighting isn't for me."

Lynn waved her away: "Don't block the way; the customers behind you are getting impatient."

"Uh, sorry."

Lefiya stepped aside to an empty space, but she didn't leave immediately.

As a genius Mage, Lefiya was certain that Lynn didn't use Magic while cooking.

In that case, that strange golden light effect must come from some Magic item.

Lefiya widened her eyes, observing Lynn's movements as she did every day.

After a moment, Lefiya silently closed her eyes.

She hadn't found the Magic item, but her eyes were a bit sore from the flashing golden light.

Today's outcome: Lefiya's defeat!

...

Time passed, and night fell.

After using up the last of the ingredients, Lynn rode his snack cart back to the dilapidated church, also located in the Northwest District.

Just as he entered the basement, a petite figure lunged at him, person and 'orbs' crashing into him.

"Lynn, I'm so hungry!"

"Didn't I leave you money before I went out? Didn't you go buy something to eat?"

Lynn seemed a bit puzzled as he reached out to pat the girl's head and asked.

Calling her a girl wasn't exactly accurate; though she looked very young, Hestia's true identity was a goddess who had lived for hundreds of millions of years.

Her divine power allowed her to ignore the erosion of time; her youthful face and fair, delicate skin made her look no different from a young maiden.

If there was anything that didn't fit the image of a young girl, it was that pair of exceptionally prominent front-mounted armor plates.

"I want to eat the food you make, Lynn."

Hestia slid down from Lynn, wrapped her arms around his waist, and looked up with a face full of anticipation.

Ever since Lynn joined her Familia, mealtime was what she looked forward to most every day.

Lynn's cooking could turn the mundane into the miraculous; no matter what the ingredients were, they would burst with incredible flavor in his hands.

Having grown accustomed to Lynn's cooking, Hestia found it hard to be interested in outside food anymore, which was why she preferred to go hungry today just to wait for his return.

"Wait a moment, I'll make some noodles for you."

Lynn patted Hestia's head and turned toward the kitchen.

Although making dinner for Hestia wasn't in his plan, it wasn't a problem for him.

In just over ten minutes, a bowl of steaming beef noodles was placed on the dining table.

"I'm digging in~!"

Hestia impatiently grabbed her chopsticks.

While she was eating, Lynn went back to his room and lay down.

In fact, his cooking skills before transmigrating weren't that good—just average.

The reason he could earn Hestia's recognition was because he was using a cheat.

With a thought, he entered the depths of his consciousness and arrived at a vast space filled with the mist.

Not far away, two figures who looked exactly like Lynn, except for their different clothing, were talking.

Noticing Lynn's appearance, they stopped their conversation and looked over.

"Yo~ You're here!"

"Good morning, DanMachi me."

"It's already night on my side."

"Then good evening."

The man who greeted him corrected himself.

He wore a set of black clothes with the character for 'Destroy' embroidered on the back and a sword hanging at his waist.

After greeting him, he walked up to Lynnand held out his right hand.

"You came at the right time; let's update."
