Chapter 1 - "Yukino’s Thaw and Lucian’s Panic."

-----

-----

The last light of sunset slipped through the gap in the curtains, scattering across the slightly messy bed like flecks of gold.

Lucian rubbed his sore lower back and slowly opened his eyes.

As his vision came into focus, an indescribable, eerie silence settled in.

He turned his head instinctively—and his breathing stopped.

What greeted him was the face of an unbelievably beautiful girl.

Her long black hair spilled across the white pillow like a waterfall, her fair skin still tinted with a faint blush that hadn't quite faded. Even in sleep, her delicate brows were slightly furrowed. A trace of tears lingered at the corners of her eyes, giving her a fragile, heart-wrenching look.

Most fatal of all—

She wasn't wearing anything.

On the floor lay a familiar sight: the girls' uniform of Sobu High, torn and scattered.

"…I'm done for."

Lucian's vision went dark. That single thought filled his mind.

He, Lucian—a talented transmigrator—had, thanks to his genius-level intellect, been specially recruited at the age of nineteen to teach math for Class 1-B at Sobu High.

Today was supposed to be his very first day on the job.

And yet, on day one, he had somehow ended up in his own apartment, sharing a bed with one of his students—a notorious problem child known as the "Ice Snow Lotus," Yukino Yukinoshita.

Seeing the faint tear marks at the corner of her eyes, Lucian covered his face in despair. In his head, he could already hear the wailing siren of a police car and the cold snap of handcuffs locking shut.

"My teaching career… is it over before it even began?"

What kind of situation was this? If anything, he was the victim here, okay?!

As a transmigrator, Lucian knew better than anyone just how ridiculous this world was.

This wasn't the peaceful Earth from his previous life.

Although this land had long ago been unified under Great Xia and was now called "Sakura Province," beneath the surface, it was a chaotic mash-up of countless anime worlds.

Espers in Academy City firing off electricity like it was nothing. Flesh-eating ghouls lurking in dark alleys. Urban legends full of vengeful spirits. Even lunatics wielding dragon-language powers…

In a world this dangerous, ordinary people could die at any moment.

That was why Lucian had relied on his brains to secure a stable job as a teacher.

Of course, to deal with those unpredictable supernatural threats, he also had a secret side job—ghost hunter.

And that… was exactly what led to this "workplace disaster."

A few hours earlier, on his way home, he'd happened to spot Yukino Yukinoshita being targeted by a ghost after school.

As both her teacher and a ghost hunter, there was no way he could just stand by and watch his beautiful student get killed. So he immediately activated his cheat ability—the Guardian Spirit Summoning System.

As long as he eliminated ghosts, he could unlock guardian spirits to fight alongside him.

The only problem?

Every spirit the system summoned was some kind of alluring plant-girl.

At the time, he had called forth the only one he had unlocked so far—a chomper named Himan.

The crisis had been resolved. It should've been the perfect "teacher saves the damsel" scenario.

But who could've guessed…

That ghost had been an extremely rare Lust Spirit.

The moment it died, it exploded into a dense cloud of potent aphrodisiac miasma.

Yukino, completely unprepared, inhaled a large amount of it. Her eyes turned hazy almost instantly, and she lost all reason.

Panicking, Lucian carried her back to his nearby apartment, intending to figure out a way to purge the toxin.

But the moment he laid her on the bed, the usually ice-cold Yukino suddenly clung to him like she'd lost her mind.

Her strength was absurd—far beyond anything normal. She tore his shirt into strips without effort.

And after that…

Well. That led to the current, indescribable crime scene.

"Ding!"

"Congratulations to the host for successfully eliminating and purifying a 'Lust Spirit.' Rewards have been issued."

The crisp system notification cut off Lucian's spiraling thoughts. A translucent blue panel appeared before his eyes, visible only to him:

[Host: Lucian]

[Occupation: Sobu High First-Year Math Teacher / Side Job: Ghost Hunter]

[Current Plant Spirit: Chomper (Himan — Succubus Form)]

[Captured Ghosts: Drowned Ghost, Lust Spirit]

[Spiritual Tools: Peachwood Sword, Exorcism Talismans]

[Abilities Gained:]

Genius Intelligence Super Swimming (from defeating the Drowned Ghost: move freely in any body of water and breathe underwater) God-Tier Charm (from defeating the Lust Spirit / special purification: irresistible attraction to the opposite sex, extraordinary presence, almost otherworldly)

Looking at the newly added "God-Tier Charm," Lucian stroked his chin.

No wonder when he checked the mirror earlier, he felt like his looks had crossed into illegal territory.

But what was the point of being more attractive now?

Would it help him dodge charges for "abducting a student"?

"…Mm…"

A soft murmur suddenly came from beside him.

Lucian froze and turned his head.

Yukino Yukinoshita slowly opened her misty eyes. After a brief moment of confusion, her icy blue gaze gradually focused—landing on Lucian's unfairly handsome face.

Time seemed to freeze.

As her awareness returned, so did the strange soreness throughout her body… and the undeniable sensation of skin against skin.

The usually aloof, untouchable young lady was instantly wide awake.

Her gaze slowly drifted downward. She took in her bare shoulders, then the scattered uniform nearby.

Lucian held his breath, his mind racing. Should he kneel and apologize first, or try explaining that absurd chain reaction of supernatural chemistry?

But to his surprise—

Yukino didn't scream. She didn't slap him. She didn't burst into tears or call the police.

She took a deep breath, her chest rising and falling sharply. Then she grabbed the blanket, wrapping herself tightly, and retreated to the far corner of the bed.

Less than a meter separated them. The air between them was thick with a strange mix of awkwardness and tension.

Yukino's mind was working faster than ever.

She had lost control at the time, but her memory remained intact.

She remembered the terrifying creature. She remembered the strange woman Lucian had summoned, with that long tongue. And she remembered how, after inhaling that pink mist, she had pounced on him like an animal in heat… even taking the initiative…

The moment those unbearably embarrassing images surfaced, her ears flushed a deep red, her body trembling slightly beneath the blanket.

And yet, she forced her expression back into its usual cold, rational composure, staring straight at him.

"Teacher Lucian."

Her voice broke the silence. Slightly hoarse—but shockingly calm.

"You don't have to take responsibility."

"....."
