Chapter 1 - 4245

The blue lit screen of a computer filled the dark corners of a room, followed with the subtle sound of a fan from the pc case filled with multicolored lights.

"This shit is really starting to piss me off"

The angry clicks of a keyboard broke through the calming noise of the active pc, a sigh followed after the statement made by the masculine voice.

"Mikey! You're going to be late for school!"

The boy announced as Mikey had clicked his keyboard a few more times, then he dragged the mouse connected to his pc across the black pad, saving the work he was currently doing.

Afterwards, he swiftly stood up from the soft red gaming chair and rushed out his room, practically jumping down a flight of stairs and rushing out the front door to his home.

"Later mom!"

Mikey called out to his mother who stood in the kitchen, leaving before she could say anything else, resulting in a subtle sigh to escape her lips.

On the other hand, Mikey was already halfway down the street, his breathing ragged due to running full speed toward his destination.

Then something strange began to occur.

The sky was suddenly engulfed by darkness, blocking the sun from shining its ray's, and casting the entire region in a shadow.

"What the hell?"

Mikey slowly came to a halt, the tone of his voice giving away the profound confusion he felt. Then he glanced upward towards the sky and his ocean blue eyes widened in utter shock.

Stationed directly in the sky was a massive cube that clearly defied the law of physics, glowing with an otherworldly essence colored in azure.

Televisions, phone's, nation wide alarms, were all replaced with a title of emergency.

THE END OF THE WORLD...

The city remained eerily quiet and every individual within had stopped what they were doing in anticipation of what was to come next.

Meanwhile, Mikey continued to his way to school but he couldn't stop feeling an impending sense of danger.

That's when it happened all to quick.

A subtle brief flash of light that lit up the sky, then an overwhelming darkness followed next.

Some Time Later...

Mikey eyes fluttered open with urgency and he immediately sat up, glancing around while trying to remember what happened.

Then it finally dawned on him as he stared at the destruction around him.

Buildings no longer stood tall and were practically eviscerated, the cement roads and side walls were uplifted and destroyed.

Though what made Mikey truly feel a sense of despair were the stains of blood scattered almost everywhere, leaving no area untouched by the dried crimson liquid.

"Mom!"

Mikey finally felt his detachment from reality evaporate at the reminder of his mother, to which he forced himself up and began running in desperation.

Tears slowly filled the corner of his eyes while he ran, partially from the dust still settling from the explosion and the thought of his mother being caught in the it.

He mentally pleaded for his mother's safety, nearly tripping on the uneven ground as he ran with despair evident on his face.

Eventually, he reached his residence and came to a halt. Both knees buckled from exhaustion and he fell to the ground, staring at the collapsed building with fear filled eyes.

"N-no. MOM!"

Mikey felt a rush of rage and anguish fill his entire being as he screamed at the top of his lungs.

His entire body felt as if it were boiling and being stabbed by searing hot needles, yet his emotional distress had bypassed the pain.

Though unbeknownst to Mikey, a subtly glowing symbol etched itself on his chest, unleashing a potent surge of foreign energy that shot into the darkened sky.

After a while, Mikey had eventually passed out from mental exhaustion and laid alone in front of his destroyed home, memories of him and his mother spending time with each other flooded his mind.

"...Do You Wish To See Your Mother Again?..."

"...Yes...please..."

Some Time Later...

Mikey began to stir for a bit before his eyes fluttered open. Realizing that he wasn't outside anymore, Mikey swiftly sat up with urgency and was about to throw himself out the bed until a soft and slender hand pressed against his chest.

"Calm down kid."

A feminine voice broke through the silence that engulfed the room they were in. Her voice soft like honey, soothing to hear which made Mikey's anxiety ease up a bit.

"Where am I? And who are you?"

Mikey eventually laid back down after feeling a sharp pain run through his body and a faint groan escaped his lips after his questions were made known.

"Aiya Muchi, head of the scientific development department. Right now, you're in one of our medical facilities. We've found you after a city sweep and decided to bring you here."

Mikey stared at Aiya with evident suspicion in his eyes, until he remembered the situation regarding his mother. A small, singular, tear fell down his cheek which made Aiya subtly flinch back.

"So what happened? Last thing I remember was a giant cube in the sky, then I woke up with everything destroyed"

Mikey ask while wiping the tear from his eye, glancing around the room with piqued curiosity at the advanced technology scattered around.

"Well...This is what everybody would describe as an 'alien' invasion. Your city wasn't the only city hit by that explosion. It happened to nearly half the states which is why the government has declared martial law."

Aiya explained with the best summary she could give, earning a nod from Mikey and once again allowing silence to engulf them.

"Oh yeah. Apparently, there have been individuals marked after the explosion. These individuals are called 'Enforcers', capable of altering specific scientific concepts."

Aiya suddenly proclaimed while reaching towards Mikey.

"Enforcers?"

Mikey repeated with a tilt of his head, watching as Aiya began to unwrap the medical bandages around his chest, revealing an ink colored symbol above his left chest.

"Ah. So I'm one of them."

Mikey previous suspicion returned after realizing he was one of the self-proclaimed enforcer. He had a lingering feeling that Aiya was supposedly supervising him, which made him even more wary of her true intentions.

"Relax. Although I was tasked with supervising you, It's to determine if your a threat to the upcoming new global security."

Aiya spoke in her usual calm tone, her voice laced with honey which felt soothing to the ears, once again calming Mikey's growing anxiety.

"Oh. So what exactly is...all of this?"

Mikey confusion was evident in his tone, glancing at the symbol etched into his chest, then at the various equipment scattered across the room.

Aiya followed his gaze and remained silent for a few minutes, her slender leg crossing over the other while her interlocked hands rested on her lap.

"From recent data collected, we believe that the attack from the foreign object had activated a dormant gene within specific individual's, thus allowing them to interact with scientific phenomena similarly to 'magic' in video games."

Mikey listened intently and nearly leapt up in profound shock at the mention of magic, though he refrained and continued listening to the explanation.

"We call them enforcers because they have the potential alter the laws of the universe in the material world. An example would be the one we have in custody. She has the power to enforce gravity at a degree that shouldn't be fathomable."

After the short explanation, an akward silence once again swept through the room. Mikey absent-mindedly stared at the ceiling, his brain digesting the information he was just told.

That's when the symbol on Mikey chest began to faintly glow with fluctuations, shocking both of them at the sudden activation.

Mikey instinctively placed his right hand on the symbol etched into his skin, a gleam of curiosity flashing across his eyes at the supernatural phenomena.

In the next moment, Mikey found himself floating alone in a vast void, surrounded by cosmic bubbles that expanded beyond finite nature.

Space and time rapidly fluctuated similarly to a quantum fluctuation within a vacuum, generation an string of numbers that stretched to infinity.

Mikey realized he couldn't hear his own thoughts nor speak, not even the concept of fear or panic could muster within him. It was as if he was outside the realm of reality.

THE QUANTUM FOAM...

Space, time, dimension, reality, it was a combination of all. The endless creation of subatomic particles popping in and out of existence, generating fluctuations that bring forth universe's.

Mikey felt as if he wasn't a singular entity separated by soul and body, instead he felt the connection to the macroscopic and the microscopic.

The series of generated numbers were never random, it was a language programmed by the universe to decipher its secrets, and Mikey was given the comprehension to understand these numbers and alter them.

BACK TO REALITY...

Mikey had suddenly shot up in an urgent manner and stood on top of the bed, earning a bewildered look from Aiya.

"I don't know what just happened, but I know that I've unlocked my ability"

This statement had shocked Aiya, making her swiftly stand up with excitement visible in her crimson eyes.

"What is it?! Gravity? Kinetic energy?!"

Aiya asked this in a rapid series of questions that revealed her genuine excited curiosity. That is when she grabbed a clipboard attached with an empty sheet, then a pen to write down everything.

"Hmm. I guess to.put it in a less complicated way, I can interact with numbers and manifest them into the material world. To what extent? I don't know nor do I know if it has any special properties."

Mikey explained while stroking his chin gently, his thoughts wandering to the brief incomprehensible realm he had witnessed.

Elsewhere...

"Of course those ignorant pricks forced this mission on us. Fighting an enforcer is practically suicide."

A man clad in military gear spoke with a profound irritation, clutching an automatic weapon while positioning on the side of a wall, next to an open door.

Glancing over at his fellow comrades who were also tasked with the mission, the solider gave a nod and they rushed into the room with active flashlights.

"I don't -"

A solider voice was suddenly cut short and forced gurgling replaced the eerie silence.

As each flashlight shone on the fallen body of the solider, fear slowly embedded within the remaining soldiers, realizing that the speed of their target was beyond what the higher-ups proclaimed.

A silhouette blitzed through the darkness untouched by the flashlights and without making noticeable noise.

In the next few seconds, each solider dropped like a sack of rocks which filled the room with multiple heavy thuds, indicating the death of the soldiers.

The subtle flickering of the flashlights due to electromagnetic interference had revealed a silhouette amongst the bodies.

Then each flashlight suddenly lost its luminosity, casting the room in a veil of darkness that obscured the silhouette, allowing it to blend into the darkness once more.

BACK AT THE MEDICAL FACILITY...

After discovering his unique ability to interact with the numerical system, Mikey had been forced through a series of tests by Aiya to understand the unleash the true potential of the scientific ability.

As of now, Mikey stood outside in an open field surrounded by a massive wall that prevented his escape, along with empty sheets of paper and a cameras that were stationed a bit away.

'Ok. So I know that this mark acts as a bridge between me and that other place. What if I manifest a negative and a negative similar to electric charges?.'

Mikey thought to himself with an expression that indicated he was deep in thought. Then after a few seconds of deep breathing, he held out both hands with both palms facing skyward.

Then Mikey closed his eyes and began activating the mark on his chest, feeling a warmth slowly gather into that point of his chest, welling up until he could no longer withstand the heat.

With a long exhale, Mikey felt the growing heat in his chest travel through his arms and into his palms, leading him to open his eyes to a profound event.

Hovering above both palms were the number '-1' and '-1', fully visible to the naked eyes which made Mikey subtly recoil in shock.

"Here we go!"

Mikey yelled out with excitement at his newfound ability, bringing both palms together in a clasp.

Fortunately for Mikey, the effect was instantaneous and before his very eyes, the space around his hands began to twist and swirl in a distortion.

The longer he held his hand together, the stronger the distortion became, generating fluctuations within the spatial dimension itself that slowly bent the space of the environment.

Mikey finally decided to release the growing distortion after realizing it was becoming stronger. He unclasped both hands and aimed them in the sky.

After a second delay, the distortion burst forward with enough force to generate a repulsive shockwave which cracked the ground beneath Mikey, accelerating at an insane pace until it violently exploded due to space fixing itself.

The clouds were immediately dispersed in a siwrl by the sheer repulsive force of the distortion.

Mikey and Aiya could only stare in awe at the potency of the ability, absent-mindedly staring at the sky that no longer had a portion of clouds hanging in the air.
