Chapter 73 - Is Nick Fury Dead?

"Go. Go to Earth and claim what I desire… and in return, you shall have the planet."

From the throne shrouded in shadow, a towering figure spoke, his voice rumbling like distant thunder. As his words faded, a golden scepter slowly descended through the air, coming to rest before the man below.

"It would be my honor."

A sinister smile curled across Loki's lips. Though his expression carried mockery, the fire burning in his eyes betrayed something deeper—rage, pride, and an unyielding hunger.

He stepped forward, grasped the scepter, and turned without hesitation, leaving the chamber.

As Loki departed, another figure emerged from the shadows beneath the throne—a woman with green skin, her gaze fixed respectfully upon the Titan above.

"Father, Loki is the God of Mischief. Can he truly be trusted? Once he appears, Asgard will not ignore him. I fear he may fail."

Gamora's voice carried both caution and reverence.

Thanos looked down at his favored daughter, a faint, approving smile crossing his face.

"You're right to be cautious, Gamora. Loki is clever, but he lacks the vision required for conquest. That is why I have sent the Black Order's General to accompany him. There will be no failure."

He paused, his expression turning colder.

"As for Asgard… there is nothing to fear. Odin has left the realm—gone elsewhere. Earth now lies unguarded. Its gates stand open."

There was a glint of triumph in Thanos' eyes.

He had waited centuries for this moment.

Long ago, he had attempted to seize Earth, only to be driven back by Odin himself. But now?

The All-Father was gone.

And opportunity had finally arrived.

"Gamora," he continued, "there are two Infinity Stones on Earth. But I will not rely on a single path."

His tone sharpened.

"I have received word—the Power Stone has surfaced near Xandar. You will go to the Kree Empire and make contact with Ronan."

A conqueror never gambled everything on one move.

If Earth's Stones could be taken, so be it.

If not—

The Power Stone would become his.

The Reality Stone and Soul Stone remained lost.

The Mind Stone had been in his possession for centuries.

But if he could secure the Power Stone…

Even Odin would no longer be a threat.

The plan was set.

Gamora departed, her thoughts unreadable.

And far away—

On Earth—

The calm before the storm was about to shatter.

-----

Less than a week after the Stark Tower celebration, on a quiet night, Peter was deep within his gravity chamber, pushing himself through another brutal training session—

When suddenly—

A sharp, inexplicable unease gripped his heart.

Ever since breaking his limiter, Peter's growth was no longer confined to physical strength alone.

He had tested it thoroughly.

What he had gained… was total evolution.

Strength.

Telekinesis.

Spider-Sense.

Every ability he possessed could now be refined, strengthened, and elevated through training.

His physical power surged forward relentlessly.

His psychic abilities grew sharper by the day.

Even his Spider-Sense had reached terrifying levels.

He had devised extreme training methods.

Inside the gravity chamber, he used telekinesis to manipulate metal particles, shaping them into an opponent to spar against—training both mind and body simultaneously.

At the same time, he forced himself into sensory deprivation, shutting down sight, hearing, smell—relying solely on Spider-Sense to navigate through automated gunfire simulations.

But now—

That same Spider-Sense flared violently.

A warning.

A danger.

Something was wrong.

Without hesitation, Peter halted his training.

His instincts had evolved to a level comparable to advanced Observation Haki—he trusted them completely.

"Alice, connect to the satellites. Scan major cities along the U.S. East Coast—focus near Washington."

Alice—his advanced AI, built upon the foundation of the Red Queen's code, far surpassing even Tony's JARVIS—responded instantly.

Within moments, data streamed in.

"Seismic activity detected in the western outskirts of Washington, D.C. My scans indicate a localized engagement—likely a small-scale battle."

"Prepare the suit. Send me the coordinates."

Peter's expression darkened.

A suspicion lingered in his mind—

But it didn't quite make sense.

Whatever could trigger this level of unease in him…

Shouldn't be happening.

Still—

There was only one way to know.

Moments later, the Spider Armor was ready.

Wings unfolded behind him as powerful thrusters ignited, propelling him into the night sky, streaking toward Washington at incredible speed.

"Master, incoming transmission—emergency distress signal."

Alice's voice cut in again.

A video feed appeared before him.

"All personnel—maximum alert! We are under attack! This is war—we need immediate support!"

Nick Fury's face filled the screen.

For once, the unshakable director looked anything but composed.

Blood streaked across his face.

His expression was tense, urgent—desperate.

And then—

In the very next second—

A golden blade pierced straight through his chest.

Fury's body jolted.

A choked cry escaped his lips—

And just like that—

The Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Collapsed.

Dead.
