Chapter 2 - The Awakening of the Hidden God

The arena was deathly silent.

For the first time in memory, the nobles, knights, and even the king himself were speechless. Their eyes, once filled with amusement and derision, were now wide with disbelief.

Kael Draven—the Trash Prince—stood tall in the center, his chest rising and falling steadily despite the blade that had nearly ended his life moments ago. Blue light shimmered faintly around his body, subtle yet impossible to ignore.

Lucian's golden eyes burned with fury. His lips curled into a tight smile, though it did not reach his eyes. This was not the weak boy he had intended to kill. Something had changed…

Kael's gaze was calm, almost serene. Inside his mind, the God-Level System pulsed like a living thing, filling him with sensations he had never known: power, clarity, awareness. Every nerve in his body tingled with potential.

[Divine Core Activated]

Kael flexed his fingers experimentally. A surge of energy ran through his limbs. He could feel every particle of the arena—the dust, the stone, the air itself responding to him. This was… incredible.

Lucian's sword hovered midair, uncertain now. The crown prince had never faced someone like this, not in his arrogance, not in his pride, not in all his years as the heir apparent.

Kael spoke softly, his voice carrying over the stunned arena.

"You all laughed at me," he said. His words were calm, almost casual, yet each syllable carried the weight of someone who had endured sixteen years of ridicule. "You thought I was nothing. A waste. Trash."

The nobles shifted uneasily. Whispers began spreading.

"And yet…" Kael's gaze sharpened, piercing Lucian directly. "…here I stand."

A faint smile curved his lips, cold and precise.

Lucian gritted his teeth. "You think this… this freak of some system can save you?" His sword began to hum as he summoned his own mana. Flames of gold danced along the blade, illuminating the deadly intent behind his eyes.

Kael did not flinch.

Instead, he flexed his hands. The God Core inside him began to glow faintly, pulsing in rhythm with his heartbeat. A translucent shield formed around him—light but unbreakable.

[Skill Acquired: Divine Shield – Duration: Permanent]

The sword struck. Lightning raced along the blade. Gold fire clashed against the blue shield, creating sparks that exploded outward. The crowd gasped. The arena floor cracked under the force of the impact.

Kael felt the system analyzing his opponent at lightning speed. The crown prince's strengths, weaknesses, attack patterns, and mana flow were all visible, quantified, calculated.

[Analysis Complete]

[Caution: Opponent is strong, but significantly weaker than host]

Kael's lips curled into a small, almost imperceptible grin. It was time.

"Is that all?" he said softly.

Lucian's eyes widened, but before he could react, a sharp pulse of energy shot from Kael's core. The Divine Perception skill activated. Every movement of Lucian's sword, every fluctuation of his mana, every muscle twitch—it all slowed, appearing almost in slow motion to Kael.

In a single thought, Kael sidestepped the next strike, spun, and tapped the hilt of Lucian's sword with his knuckle. Sparks flew. The crown prince stumbled back, unbalanced, staring at the boy he thought he had dominated.

The arena erupted—not in laughter this time, but in panic and shock. Some nobles whispered of sorcery. Others spoke of forbidden powers.

Kael's system notified him immediately:

[Enemy Status: Shocked – Reaction delayed by 0.8 seconds]

[Reward Pending: Humiliation of Opponent]

A thrill surged through him. He was not just alive anymore. He was beginning to dominate. And this was only the first step.

Kael took a deep breath and looked up at the king. For the first time in sixteen years, the monarch's eyes were not indifferent—they were narrowed, curious, uncertain.

"I… I am stronger than you realize," Kael said. The calm authority in his voice silenced the murmurs. "And I will only grow stronger from here."

Lucian's face twisted in rage, his pride bleeding. "You dare speak to me like that?"

Kael tilted his head. "I don't need to dare. You've already lost the right to command me."

The crown prince's sword glowed brighter. The ground trembled. Mana flared, igniting the arena with golden light. Lucian was going all out. He had to. He refused to be humiliated.

Kael's system reacted instantly. Energy coursed through him. The God Core analyzed, calculated, optimized.

The next strike came faster than human eyes could follow. Kael's body moved on instinct alone, sidestepping, deflecting, and countering with precision. One hand, one motion, and Lucian was thrown to the ground, gasping in disbelief.

The arena went completely silent. Nobles froze mid-whisper. Servants stared with open mouths. Even the king's eyes widened.

Kael's eyes, dark and steady, met Lucian's in the dust.

"You've humiliated me for sixteen years," Kael said quietly. "Now, the only thing left is… your defeat."

The crown prince scrambled to his feet, but Kael's presence had changed the entire energy of the arena. Even without attacking, Kael radiated authority, confidence, and terrifying power.

The blue glow from his core intensified, and the system prompted him with a new quest:

[Next Quest Generated]

[Title: Ascend Beyond Trash – Eliminate the Crown Prince]

[Reward: Legendary Power Unlock]

Kael's lips curved into a faint smile.

It was one thing to survive. Another to grow. And the system was telling him… it was time to start becoming a god.

Before Lucian could react, Kael leapt forward, moving faster than anyone could anticipate. Every step resonated with power. Every motion screamed of a future that no one had imagined.

And then…

A shadow fell across the arena.

A presence darker than any noble, soldier, or even Lucian's pride… approached from the royal balcony.

The king's advisors froze. Whispers rippled through the crowd.

Kael sensed it immediately. His system flared in warning.

[Warning: Unknown Entity Detected – Power Level Exceeds Host]

The crowd did not see it, but Kael did. Blue light shimmered, pulsing faster. Divine Perception revealed it—a figure in a dark cloak, moving with silent purpose, a presence so oppressive that even the sun seemed to dim around them.

Kael's heart beat faster. This was no ordinary threat.

[Objective Updated: Investigate Unknown Entity – Danger Extreme]

The arena now held its breath—not for Kael, not for Lucian, but for what was coming next.

Kael's eyes narrowed, a spark of excitement igniting deep inside.

Finally… his journey was about to truly begin.

And nothing, not even the royal family, would ever be the same.

The mysterious cloaked figure slowly descended the balcony, stopping just above the arena. A voice, cold and echoing, reached Kael's mind without moving its lips:

"So… you are the Hidden God."

Kael froze.

"Good. I've been waiting for you."
