He was answered with silence from the other end of the line.
Gale Fawley didn't bother guessing what the silence meant, simply waiting patiently.
Before long, a response finally came—
"What about it?"
The moment Gale heard Timothy York's reaction, he knew the man must already have his answer.
Whether that answer came from some kind of telepathic guess or other means was none of his concern.
Gale said slowly, "Well, we have had dinner and gone hunting together in the past. Plus, you're technically my elder, so I figured I could share this with you. After all, I don't know that kid Mason Crawford very well. You don't expect me to go tell him, do you?"
Gale spoke in a measured, deliberate tone, and Timothy, on the other end, didn't seem to be in a rush either. After a long moment, he finally asked, "What is it?"
