Summer Thorne was even more startled and stumbled back two steps to put some distance between them, only to find herself about to crash into the entryway cabinet behind her.
With lightning-fast reflexes, Timothy York shot out a hand to protect the back of her head, but there was still a dull THUMP.
Even though her head had only hit his palm, Summer Thorne was dazed for a couple of seconds. In that brief moment, Timothy York leaned in and kissed her again.
Simon Keats was on the living room sofa, playing on his phone. He couldn't see what was happening by the door, but he heard the noise and called out, "Hey, Summer, is the dessert delivery here?"
After a long moment, Summer Thorne finally emerged from the entryway. She shot him a glance and replied, "Your uncle is here to pick you up."
Timothy York's voice then echoed from the entryway. "Don't I need to change my shoes?"
