Hearing this, Yara Keats sneered again. "Do you really think I'm so stupid I'd let you walk all over me? If you can spin a lie like this, you can certainly fabricate the evidence to go with it. Why should I believe someone who's been nothing but a calculating schemer from the start?"
Xavier Lockwood took another step forward, about to say something more to Yara Keats, but she recoiled several steps as if he were a viper. She shot him a single, wary glance before her eyes landed on Summer Thorne again.
In that moment, Xavier Lockwood was all but certain she had already made up her mind about him.
Nothing he said or did now would ever make her believe him.
In fact, it would only make her push back harder.
Xavier Lockwood froze in place. Though his gaze remained locked on her, he didn't move any closer.
