Summer Thorne's heart skipped a beat at Brandon Crawford's words. A moment later, she asked softly, "The York Group and the Carrington Group... What's going on?"
Brandon Crawford said, "You've probably seen the news over the past few months. The competition between the Carrington Group and the York Group has even drawn the government's attention... They've reached out to me, and I can't shake the feeling that something isn't right about all this..."
Summer Thorne hadn't intended to pry, but after hearing that, not asking further would seem too pointed. So, she played along and asked, "Not right in what way?"
"You run your own company, so you know that where there's a market, there's competition. But no matter how much they compete, one side should ultimately be profiting, right?" Brandon Crawford said. "If neither side is gaining an advantage, then doesn't that mean there's a problem?"
Summer Thorne was taken aback for a moment, but she still had to nod in agreement.
