Roman Rhodes gazed into Stella Sterling's crystal-clear eyes.
After a moment, his thick brows smoothed out, and a faint smile touched his lips.
"Things have been a little rough, it's true." The man looked up, meeting her gaze directly, but his next words had nothing to do with work. "Have you ever thought about what dating me actually means?"
Stella Sterling repeated blankly, "Wh-what does it mean?"
Clearly, the question was far outside her realm of experience.
The man could see her confusion.
He didn't know whether to laugh at her innocence or his own absurdity.
Roman Rhodes gazed back at Stella Sterling, lost in thought.
As his mind drifted, he momentarily lost control of his strength and squeezed her arm too hard.
He didn't snap out of it until he heard Stella Sterling cry out in pain. A white ring had formed on the arm in his grasp, which then visibly flushed red.
His heart sank.
Roman Rhodes immediately eased his grip, a flash of regret in his eyes. "Sorry."
