Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Distance Is Not a Problem

The next day, just after seven in the morning.

Everyone gradually got up, washed up, and went downstairs to eat the breakfast Lü Tong had brought back.

Today's itinerary was relatively simple.

They would have the bride's family's thank-you banquet in Jia City at noon.

Then in the afternoon, they would head to Fujin to attend the groom's family's official wedding ceremony the next day at noon.

While eating breakfast, Qi Sheng clearly noticed Tan Hua occasionally sneaking glances at him.

"Did you not sleep well last night?"

Qi Sheng saw the faint dark circles under Tan Hua's eyes. It added a touch of playful charm to her delicate, naturally beautiful face.

"Yeah. What about you?"

Tan Hua really hadn't slept well.

She was in an unfamiliar place, and on top of that, Qi Sheng had caught her off guard with his flirting last night.

She had tossed and turned until almost four in the morning before finally falling asleep.

"Me?"

Qi Sheng shrugged. "My sleep quality has always been great."

He had drunk a lot, so he started snoring the moment he hit the bed.

Poor Wu Peng had to suffer until the latter half of the night before he could sleep, and he didn't hold back his complaints about Qi Sheng when he woke up in the morning.

"Hmph."

Hearing that a certain someone had slept like a log without a care in the world, Tan Hua felt a strange little flicker of resentment.

'If it weren't for this guy flirting with me, I wouldn't have had insomnia.'

"Oh, right, we haven't added each other on WeChat yet. Miss Tan, would you give me the chance?"

As he spoke, Qi Sheng opened the WeChat QR code on his brand-new Mate RS.

He had Tan Hua scan his code because he was afraid that if he scanned hers, she might not accept his friend request.

Then wouldn't it be game over?

Tan Hua didn't overthink it. She scanned the code and added Qi Sheng on WeChat.

As for his contact name, Tan Hua hesitated for a few seconds before simply typing in "Qi Sheng".

A special nickname like couples use wouldn't fit their current relationship at all.

After all, there was just a little bit of ambiguous chemistry between them.

Besides, it wasn't even certain if they would ever see each other again.

He had made a pretty good impression on her, so she wasn't against getting to know him.

'Maybe Qi Sheng really is the one destined for me.'

"Handsome Qi, let's add each other on WeChat too! I can keep you updated in the future, so no one else beats you to the punch."

Chen Jia grinned and took out her phone, letting Qi Sheng scan her WeChat code.

"Ahem, so... I'm gonna scan it?" Qi Sheng looked at Tan Hua.

"Why are you looking at me? Scan it if you want."

Tan Hua rolled her eyes at Qi Sheng, but inside, she felt a little shy and happy.

From Qi Sheng's attitude, it wasn't hard to see that he genuinely cared about her feelings.

Adding your girlfriend's best friend on WeChat can easily cross a line.

Even though they weren't actually dating yet, the fact that he thought to ask for her permission deserved some praise.

"Tsk, tsk. You're not even together yet, and Handsome Qi is already henpecked. Miss Tan, your charm is truly astonishing!"

Chen Jia accepted Qi Sheng's friend request, secretly saved his contact name as "Hottie," and pinned the chat to the top.

'Even though Qi Sheng likes Tan Hua, a top-tier beauty isn't that easy to pursue.'

'A pack of wolves is always circling. Who knows if there's another suitor with better prospects than Qi Sheng?'

'If Qi Sheng fails, maybe I could slide right in and take his place.'

...

After breakfast, everyone packed their luggage and went to the parking lot outside the villa complex.

Skinny Monkey was about to get into the A8, but he found the doors were still locked.

Qi Sheng shot him a look, and Skinny Monkey immediately understood.

'Damn, once Old Qi has a girl in his sights, his friends don't exist!'

As for Lü Tong, his car could only fit three passengers, and his girlfriend had to sit in the front passenger seat.

Fortunately, Lü Tong's younger brother had also driven over to pick people up.

But his car was very ordinary—a Toyota Corolla.

After riding in a Mercedes E300 and an Audi A8 just yesterday, today they were downgraded to a Toyota Corolla.

The stark difference was a bit disheartening.

Meanwhile, Qi Sheng gallantly pulled open the front passenger door.

Tan Hua's cheeks grew slightly warm, but she was completely captivated by this special treatment.

In fact, it was incredibly easy for many guys to pursue girls if they had a car.

Girls are naturally prone to fantasizing, and sitting in the passenger seat makes it easy for them to imagine themselves in the role of a girlfriend.

As for the three girls in the back, Qi Sheng could only express his helplessness.

Chen Jia shot Qi Sheng a glare and pulled open the back door herself.

She straddled her legs and sat on the center hump.

That was indeed one of the awkward things about this kind of executive sedan.

Fortunately, the girls were so petite and flexible that two of them could have squeezed into a single seat.

Qi Sheng rested his left hand on the steering wheel, striking a very cool pose.

His right hand, meanwhile, hovered over the center armrest.

Tan Hua was wearing a white T-shirt today, which didn't particularly accentuate her figure.

But her denim hot pants revealed a pair of long, fair, and perfectly-shaped, gorgeous legs.

Qi Sheng's right hand felt an impulse to reach out and touch them.

'Ahem, the gorgeous legs in the passenger seat of a luxury car never disappoint.'

Although Qi Sheng's A8 hadn't carried that many beauties yet, Tan Hua's legs were definitely top-tier!

Tan Hua pressed her legs together and leaned toward the car door.

She could vaguely sense this guy's restless urges and secretly rolled her eyes at him.

With three third wheels staring wide-eyed from the back seat, how could she possibly let Qi Sheng touch her legs?

Besides, they had known each other for less than two days.

Her evaluation of Qi Sheng had only just begun.

They arrived at the restaurant address Lü Tong had given them.

Qi Sheng pulled over, found a parking spot, and got out of the car with four fair-skinned, long-legged beauties.

Every passerby shot him looks of envy.

'Tsk, this is pretty damn cool!'

In high spirits, Qi Sheng walked over to meet up with Wu Peng and the others, who had also just arrived.

The groomsmen and bridesmaids were all going to sit at the same table anyway.

After drinking together yesterday, they had all become somewhat familiar with each other.

It wasn't as awkward as when they had first met.

While waiting for the banquet to start, Chen Jia secretly tried to dig up some intel on Qi Sheng from Wu Peng and the others.

For instance, how many girlfriends he'd had in college.

Wu Peng and the others looked at each other, all saying that Qi Sheng had led a very ordinary life in college.

If it weren't for this reunion, they would have never known that Qi Sheng had struck it rich.

'Maybe his family's home was demolished and they got a huge payout?'

'But in a small place like Qi City, no matter what kind of demolition compensation you get, could it really amount to tens of millions?'

Chen Jia's inquiries yielded no results, but she didn't quite believe that Qi Sheng had never had a girlfriend during college.

'She thought that while Qi Sheng isn't handsome, he's at least tall and rich.'

'Wouldn't he be able to switch girlfriends whenever he wanted?'

But judging from the expressions on Wu Peng and the others, Qi Sheng really had been low-key during college.

'Tsk, this guy is actually pretty interesting. He didn't date at all in college, and only after graduating did he lay his cards on the table and reveal he's a rich second-generation kid.'

Chen Jia couldn't quite figure it out, but she also found this kind of innocent, inexperienced "pretty boy" very attractive.

Listening in on the side, Tan Hua, who had been quietly "eating melons," felt a little thrill of joy in her heart.

'Qi Sheng has never been in a relationship, and neither have I.'

'Mm, we really are a good match.'

The only concern now was the problem of them being in different cities.

She was studying in Chengdu and had found a decent job there after graduation.

As for Qi Sheng, it seemed he was still in his hometown, and she hadn't heard him mention any future plans.

Of course he was. Qi Sheng was a full-time writer, so naturally, he wanted to keep his living costs as low as possible.

I ask you, is there any place with lower living costs than home?

Qi Sheng wanted to go to a big city, too.

But the problem was, the cost of living in a big city was high!

If Qi Sheng knew Tan Hua had this concern, he would've absolutely pounded his chest and guaranteed it wasn't a problem.

As long as you have money, where in the world can't you go?
