Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Amelia's Domineering Style

Amelia Lockhart came running back in no time.

The four buckets no longer swayed; Amelia Lockhart, despite her slender shoulders, carried two shoulder poles with light, nimble steps, scampering up the stairs to the water tank.

SPLASH—

Clear water poured into the tank. But the tank was so massive that pouring in four buckets of water hardly felt like an accomplishment.

Amelia Lockhart quickly ran back toward the river, glancing at Ethan Quinn and Granny Lawrence as she left.

Granny Lawrence smiled kindly and waved at her, while Ethan Quinn sat on a chair two meters away, resting with his eyes closed.

The two of them hadn't interacted at all.

Moving with incredible speed, Amelia Lockhart soon returned carrying another four buckets of water. Upon her return, she made a point of looking at the two again.

Sure enough, just like when she had left, Ethan Quinn hadn't even changed his posture.

After pouring all four buckets into the tank, Amelia Lockhart didn't rush off again. Instead, she walked over to Granny Lawrence, crouched down, and asked with a smile, "Granny Lawrence, I was wondering if you have a clean toothbrush and toothpaste?"

Granny Lawrence nodded immediately. "Of course. Volunteers come here often, so I have those kinds of daily necessities."

"May I have a set of toothbrush and toothpaste? My friend might need them." Amelia Lockhart pointed to Ethan Quinn in the distance.

Granny Lawrence smiled and gestured, and Amelia Lockhart easily found a clean toothbrush and toothpaste in a tidy low cabinet. She also grabbed a disposable paper cup.

"Ethan Quinn."

Although Ethan Quinn was resting with his eyes closed, he wasn't asleep. He had heard Amelia Lockhart's movements and opened his eyes to see the items placed before him.

'For me?'

"Here. Rinse your mouth."

Ethan Quinn raised an eyebrow slightly, seemingly surprised by her thoughtfulness.

Amelia Lockhart didn't have time to wait for him to ponder it. She was in a hurry to fetch more water. On her second trip, she had run into the other groups of guests who had finished eating and were starting their tasks.

She forcibly shoved the items into his hand, mumbled, "They're clean," and then shouldered her buckets and ran off.

Ethan Quinn looked at the simple toothbrush, the no-name brand of toothpaste, and the empty paper cup. He didn't feel much resistance to them; instead, he was thinking...

'She didn't even get me any water.'

Granny Lawrence seemed to understand. She smiled and pointed to the inner room. "Young man, there's water inside."

[I can't believe I'm only just now realizing why he wasn't talking! I need to go face the wall and reflect on my sins!]

[Hahaha! I'm actually starting to like Amelia Lockhart's brand of domineering charm!]

When Amelia Lockhart returned carrying four more buckets of water, the sight of Ethan Quinn helping Granny Lawrence chop firewood nearly made her trip.

'The High God... he's actually chopping firewood!'

'Those clean, sharp movements hinted at the powerful, well-built physique hidden beneath his clothes!'

The bullet comments must be going crazy.

'I don't know why he's chopping wood, but it's no easier than carrying water.'

Ethan Quinn shot her a faint glance, stopped chopping, and set the axe aside. He then took the buckets she had carried back and poured the water into the tank.

Amelia Lockhart was about to stop him but was frozen in place by one of his cold looks, so she could only retract her hand sheepishly.

'In that instant, I actually felt the High God's oppressive aura!'

Amelia Lockhart grumbled to herself, 'Ethan Quinn clearly has no memories, and right now, he's just a kid!'

[Hahaha! Our boy is trying to prove he's not just a delicate beauty!]

[As a neutral observer, I think they have some serious chemistry! It's mainly because they're both so gorgeous!]

By the time the sun began to set, Amelia Lockhart had run back and forth so many times she didn't dare touch the buckets anymore. While Ethan Quinn was pouring the water into the tank, she could drink the water Granny Lawrence gave her to quench her thirst.

"It's full."

Just as Amelia Lockhart was about to set off again, Ethan Quinn finally opened his precious mouth.

Amelia Lockhart immediately ran up to take a look. Without her realizing it, the enormous water tank was actually full!

Amelia Lockhart let out a long sigh of relief. She casually raised a hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead and flashed a peace sign at the camera. "Mission accomplished!"

[She actually did it all by herself! I'm completely stunned!]

[I don't care what Amelia Lockhart's motives are, just for the fact that she ran around all afternoon and even found stuff for our guy to rinse his mouth with, I'm switching sides and becoming her fan for a bit!]

As they waved goodbye to Granny Lawrence and prepared to leave, the old woman smilingly stuffed a Silk Pouch bearing the show's logo into her hand. "This afternoon, you not only filled my water tank but also helped me chop wood and clean the house. I'm very satisfied. This is what you've earned!"

'What is this?'

Amelia Lockhart was dying to open it and see, but the writing on it said it could only be opened at dinner, so she had to give up.

"What do you think this Silk Pouch is for? I don't think the director mentioned anything about a Silk Pouch."

Ethan Quinn glanced at it. "Keep it."

"Oh," Amelia Lockhart said, her curiosity vanishing. She obediently tucked the Silk Pouch into her pocket.

[Hahaha! His two words were enough to shut Amelia Lockhart up! LMAO!]

[Yeah, but, I'm really curious too! None of the other teams got a Silk Pouch!]

When Amelia Lockhart and Ethan Quinn returned to the task point, they only saw Rhett Reynolds and Iris Yates.

Iris Yates immediately greeted them happily, chirping, "You guys finished your task too? What star-rating was it? We picked a one-star task. It was so easy!"

[So easy they both almost fell asleep after they got back, hahahaha!]

"We finished. It was three stars."

"Wow! That's amazing! What did you have to do?"

Amelia Lockhart simply gestured to indicate the size of the water tank.

Iris Yates was dumbfounded.

"You filled a tank that big by yourself?"

"Yep! I was just thinking about what the production team is serving for dinner. They can't just work us to the bone and not feed us properly, right?" Amelia Lockhart shot a resentful look in the direction of the director's team.

"Aren't you tired?" Iris Yates's mouth twitched. 'She's worried about what's for dinner! Is this girl made of steel or something?'

Amelia Lockhart blinked. "It was... okay, I guess? When I was carrying water, I saw Ruby Sawyer's team helping someone move. The size of the wardrobe they were carrying looked terrifying even to me."

Iris Yates: ...

'If even Amelia Lockhart found it terrifying, just how terrifying was it?'

The bullet comments, however, were roaring with laughter!

[I can't believe even Amelia Lockhart found it terrifying! Hahaha! I thought she was going to say she could run while carrying it!]

[Poor Ruby and Vincent Vance got the hardest Four Stars task! They were covered in dust all afternoon!]

Once all eight people had gathered, it was finally time to eat. Everyone had the same dinner: two dishes, one meat and one vegetable.

The tasks were all physically demanding, and everyone was starving. Rhett Reynolds and Ruby Sawyer, in particular, looked almost too exhausted to be on camera.

"The Silk Pouch."

Amelia Lockhart was about to dig in when she heard Ethan Quinn's reminder. It took her a moment to register, but then she immediately pulled the Silk Pouch from her pocket. "Director! We have a Silk Pouch, can we use it?"

[The bullet comments were going crazy! You guys finally remembered!]

Iris Yates, who was sitting right next to them, immediately asked curiously, "A Silk Pouch? What's that?"

Amelia Lockhart shook her head. "I don't know. It says it can only be opened at dinner."

"Open it and see."

Amelia Lockhart opened the Silk Pouch. On it were written two large words: Luxury Dinner!
