[Crimson Citadel - Elara's Quarters]
Rhyzok stood awkwardly near the doorway, watching as Elara busied herself with tidying her room. It was a strange sight—a demon child, the youngest of the notorious Citadel family, performing a task as mundane as cleaning. The room itself was a reflection of her dual nature: childish in its clutter, yet terrifying in its detail.
Elara was striking, even for a demon. Her long, slick hair was a gradient of midnight black and blood red, framing a face that could shift from innocent to predatory in a heartbeat. Her eyes, with their vertical split pupils, watched Rhyzok with a curiosity that made his spiritual energy hum with unease.
When she finally finished, the room was transformed. The walls were a deep, bruised crimson, adorned with frames of her own accomplishments and paintings of demonic legends. A chair fashioned from beast hides sat in the corner, looking both regal and savage.
Elara smiled, plopping down onto her bed. "So... Rhyzok," she said, her voice carrying a hint of awkwardness. "What do you think of my room?" She immediately looked away, thinking, *Gosh, what a stupid question.*
"It looks cool," Rhyzok replied, trying to be polite. "I like it."
Silence fell over them again. Rhyzok remained standing, his mind racing. *I thought she wanted to eat me. Why is she acting like we're just... hanging out?*
"I think I should probably head back now," Rhyzok said, turning toward the door.
"No!" Elara shouted, jumping to her feet. Rhyzok froze, his form flickering. Elara softened her voice, looking at her feet. "I mean... it's my first time having a Spiritual Being as a friend. I don't really know what I'm supposed to do."
*Friend?* Rhyzok thought, his energy pulsing with confusion. *When did we become friends?* He sighed, relaxing his guard slightly. "And it's my first time in a demon girl's room."
Elara smiled and patted the space beside her. "Come on. You can sit here."
Rhyzok walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. It was surprisingly comfortable. In Orynx, technology was not a matter of machines, but of energy manipulation. The fabric was woven from beast hides treated with spiritual flames until they were as soft as silk, then infused with a balance of demonic and spiritual energies. The demonic energy provided a solid structure, while the spiritual energy converted that hardness into a plush, inviting texture. It was a perfect example of how their world used energy for more than just war.
Elara stared up at the ceiling, her expression becoming unusually mature. "I like that you don't chase power, Rhyzok." She paused, her voice turning somber. "My family is obsessed with it. My eldest brother is the 2nd Harbinger. My middle brother, Ryvex, is already hunting for the rank of the 2nd, convinced that inheriting a legendary blade will make him whole. They think power is something you steal, or earn through betrayal."
"But your family did earn their power, didn't they?" Rhyzok asked.
"No," Elara countered, turning to look at him. "True power—the kind the Origins have—is different. They didn't have to kill their own species or betray their friends to reach the top. They earned it through their very nature. Have you ever seen the 1st Harbinger?"
Rhyzok shook his head.
"He is incredibly strong," Elara continued, "yet he will never be an Origin. Not because he lacks the strength, but because he lacks the leadership. My family is the same. They want to reach the peak, but they don't know what to do once they get there. They rule through fear, and it's stupid. I don't see a reason to chase power for the sake of power... but if I find a true reason, then I'll chase it." She offered him a small, genuine smile.
Rhyzok was stunned by her words. *Wow. Why did I never think of that? But Elarion... he's so desperate to be the 1st Harbinger. Should I talk to him? Will he even listen?*
"I think I understand what you're feeling," Rhyzok said, standing up. He realized he felt more at ease now. "By the way, you never actually told me your full name."
Elara gave him a playful, forgetful look. "Oh! I'm Elara Citadel."
Rhyzok grinned. "Well, Elara Citadel, let's go have some actual fun."

**[The Origin's Realm]**
Deep within the obsidian halls of the King's domain, the Cursed Lord sat in silence, his mind heavy with the King's previous words. *This is going to be tense,* he thought, his hand tracing the hilt of his sheathed blade. *I haven't heard from Xyne in a while. I should reach out to her once this business is concluded.*
"Bow down! The King has arrived!" a servant's voice bellowed, echoing through the chamber.
The Cursed Lord stood and inclined his head as the King swept into the room, his dark cape trailing behind him like a shadow.
"I have found a way," the King said, his voice dripping with cold triumph.
"How?" the Cursed Lord asked, his eyes narrowing.
The King smiled, a cruel, jagged expression. "It took some effort, but that Angel Origin—Kaelvyr—will be dying very soon."
"And what of Nova?" the Cursed Lord pressed. "She is the true threat."
"Do not worry about the child," the King laughed, the sound grating against the stone walls. "She has power, yes, but she lacks the experience to use it. She is a goddess who doesn't know how to fight." He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous growl. "I came here to retrieve an artifact. Something that will take care of Nova for me."
The King turned toward the balcony overlooking his dark empire and raised his voice until it shook the very foundations of the castle.
"Summon them! Summon the Harbingers!"
His eyes glowed with a malevolent light as he looked toward the horizon.
"A war is about to begin."
To be continued...
