Ray pushed open the gym door and stepped right in. The second his ass showed up in the lobby, eyes from every direction locked onto him like lasers. Some chicks who were mid-conversation straight up stopped talking, others started whispering, and a few gave him that straight-up disgusted look with their eyebrows raised like he didn't belong anywhere near this place. Ray felt every single stare — that nasty mix of curiosity, straight disgust, and a little bit of mockery.
'Damn, Karl wasn't lying. This shit's actually heavy,' Ray thought, walking in like he didn't give a fuck. 'I ain't even do shit wrong. I know this floor better than half these bitches do…'
Good thing Lena was still posted up behind the front desk. The second she clocked Ray, she waved him over and called his name loud enough to cut through the blasting gym music.
"Ray! Over here!"
He walked straight up. Lena gave him a small smile, but her eyes were saying a whole lot more.
