Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Awakening, First Acquaintance

After pouring the last bowl of Dragon Bone Soup down Sneasel's throat, the day's treatment finally came to an end. From now on, the medicinal ointment only needed to be changed every three days. Having invested nearly a million in precious medicinal herbs, Sneasel's bone structure would be even stronger than it was at its peak once it fully recovered.

Taking advantage of the fact that the creature had not yet awakened, Hisoka placed a self-made data monitor in front of the bed. The device looked somewhat like a large camera used by journalists, but inside, it was equipped with high-definition locking probes and dynamic trackers.

The data monitor was linked to a laptop. Hisoka sat in a chair by the bed and began the analysis and data monitoring.

Beep! Beep!

A 3D virtual image of Sneasel quickly took shape on the computer software, followed by its six-dimensional attribute chart.

*Sneasel*

*Height:* 1.1m

*Weight:* 31.5kg

*Type:* Dark, Ice

*Classification:* Sharp Claw Pokémon

*HP:* C+

*Attack:* A+

*Defense:* D+

*Special Attack:* D

*Special Defense:* C+

*Speed:* A+

The data on the chart showed that, except for Special Attack, every attribute was followed by a plus sign. Compared to the average data for Sneasel found online, this individual's overall stats were far superior to its peers.

The average height for a Sneasel was around 0.9m, with an average weight of 28kg. This individual's height and weight completely exceeded the norm. Its previous battle against Onix had already demonstrated its incredible fighting will, so Hisoka wasn't too surprised that its attributes surpassed those of its kind.

...

"Snea... sel..."

Sneasel, who had been lying on the bed, suddenly let out a soft cry. It slowly opened its eyes, revealing a pair of ruby-like pupils. Its gaze was dazed, seemingly out of focus, but only for a few seconds.

Sneasel's eyes quickly regained the classic, sharp focus of a feline predator on the hunt. It turned its head to look; the severe pain in its right arm had vanished, replaced by a slight numbness. It seemed to have recovered, though its arm was wrapped in loops of an annoying white cloth.

Suddenly, a faint whisper caught Sneasel's attention. It looked over to see a creature called a human not far away, doing things Sneasel found incomprehensible.

"Just as I thought. This Sneasel's physical fitness and muscle strength are outstanding. No wonder it could inherit a move like Brick Break."

Hisoka looked at the data on the computer with excitement. This indirectly proved that Sneasel's parents were likely excellent specimens themselves. Pokémon genetics was a major field of study in this world; healthy,

superior parents often produced even better offspring. This was especially apparent in Pokémon breeding, though it wasn't a hundred percent guaranteed due to genetic uncertainty. As the saying goes, a dragon has nine sons, and each is different.

What was most interesting was that this Sneasel was actually left-handed. Its left arm was approximately 3mm thicker than the right, and the muscle tissue in its left hand was significantly stronger. This wasn't rare among humans, as left-handed people were uncommon but not scarce, but finding it in a Pokémon made for a great research topic.

"Don't be in such a hurry to tear off the gauze. Keep it on for two more days so your body can absorb more of the medicine. It's for your own good!"

Sneasel, who had been stealthily trying to bite through the bandages on its right arm, froze. It looked up to find that the human, who had been some distance away just a moment ago, was now standing right in front of it, looking down with a smile.

Pokémon often possessed senses far more sensitive than humans. When Sneasel looked at its surroundings and its nearly healed right arm, it understood that this human had saved it. It could sense no negative emotions or threat coming from the man.

As a Dark type, Sneasel was naturally cunning, but it wouldn't attack someone who had helped it. Gratitude was not exclusive to humans. Unless a Pokémon had been abandoned or harmed by humans before, they usually didn't have difficulty trusting others.

"Let me see how you're recovering!" Hisoka reached out and placed his hand on Sneasel's right arm, gently stroking and pressing along it. "Recovering well. Just rest here for a while and avoid any strenuous exercise."

Sneasel felt a bit at a loss. This was the first time it had ever been cared for. Its ruby eyes stared blankly at the busy figure, a strange sensation gradually spreading in its heart...
