Synopsis
Stay with us or your sister dies.” Alpha Derrick threatens, eyes brimming under the night as he tightens his claws around her neck. No, I shake my head. My lips tremble as I watch tears run down Julia's eyes. “Don't do it please. I will stay.” I murmur, left with no choice. But I swear they will pay for this. ~~ Sapphire Weston has spent eight years as a rogue with her sister, always on the run from death. When her younger sister wanders into Blood Moon territory, Sapphire is forced to step into the very den of the twin Alphas she hated since childhood. The very Alphas that killed her pack, her family. Chapter 1 - chapter one

I smile, tucking my little sis hair as I braid them into two.

Julia, my little sis is sitting on the hard floor while I sit on our old looking bed so I can braid her hair.

Our house is scabby, and old. The ceiling is made from straws, and the walls are made of mud. We only have one tiny bed where mama, and papa sleep while we sleep on the floor.

We are really poor, and treated as slaves instead of normal pack members all because we are omegas.

Omegas are the lowest rank, we are weak, feeble and unfit for battle so our alpha deems up better to work in the farm.

We are subjected to hard labour. Just like every other omega, we are barely fed because we die quickly so the Alpha doesn't dim it fit to waste food on us.

It's a miracle our family is still complete. The guards inflict terrible pain on us if we fall behind.

Julia, and I are hiding in our room pretending to be asleep while I braid her hair.

Our job starts in the afternoon because we are kids. The adults are expected to resume duty as early as six in the morning.

We the kids are treated poorly, but the adults are treated worse. I sometimes wish I don't grow up, that way I won't have to suffer more.

"Do the braids look good?" My sister's soft voice brings me out of my thoughts.

"Well, I am not a stylist, but I am trying my best to make it look amazing." I assure her, tickling her sides.

She bursts into fits of giggles, her little feet throwing up in the air.

"Sto—stop it." she giggles, trying to squirm out of my hands.

I laugh alongside her before deciding to continue her braids.

Just as I am about to start out, the little shed scabby cloth covering the room fled open.

I have never seen an actual door before, we omegas aren't allowed such luxury.

Papa rushes in, the old torn cloth covering his lower body is stained with blood.

His eyes look scared as his heart beats louder, and faster than usual.

"Papa!! See the braids Saph made for me." she giggled, flaunting her ugly looking braids.

"It's pretty, my love. Come, we have to go." papa hurries, throwing her over his body.

"What's wrong pa?" I ask in concern, my pa has never looked so scared before.

He doesn't answer, he just grabs my little hands in his, and drags me along.

The cool wind brushed past my skin, leaving goosebumps in its wake.

I can hear screaming of people, shouts, cries, clanging of metal. I don't understand what is happening.

"Pa—"

"Shhh, just do what I tell you okay?" he whispers, pulling us behind a huge bush.

I nod my head.

"Good." he says firmly.

The omega are not allowed to go into the town where all the other wolves live. We are put in the farm where our little mud houses are surrounded.

Everywhere is filled with different crops. The usual guards are not at the station on the farm.

Omegas are running about. The adults carrying their children in a hurry.

This isn't normal, what is going on?

"Where is mama?" Julia's voice is low, she buries her head between papa's neck.

"She is on her way." his voice cracks.

She isn't.

"Are we being attacked?" I blurt out, pa steps halters.

He sighs then whispers, "Yes, I have to get you both to safety before they get here."

I knew it.

The guards missing, omegas running, mama not being here, all these can only happen if we were attacked.

"What pack?" My voice is tiny.

He doesn't answer, he just guides us through a corn field. The corns are tall enough to shield us from sight.

We push through, coming out of the other side before heading fast towards the rice farm.

Once we pass the rice farm, there is a way that leads to the woods. We have never tried passing there because we will always be found.

Omegas who tried it were killed after being found.

As my leg hits the cold water that runs through the farm, pa stops.

"What's wrong?"

"Your mother. She is alive, I thought she died." he hastily places Julia on her feet.

Bending in front of us, his next words shock me, "Repeat after me. I, Sapphire Weston, reject Black Cove to be my pack."

My eyes widen, if I do that I will become a rogue. Rogues are always haunted, and killed on spot.

"That is the only way. I have to go back for your mama, if you don't do this the Blood Moon will still find you." he explains.

Tears rush down my eyes as I repeat after him," I Sapphire Weston reject Black Cove to be my pack."

A sudden pain fills my chest. I grab my chest as tears run down my cheeks.

The pain evolves into a dull ache before all I feel is emptiness. He asks Julia to do the same.

She does, and starts crying.

Pa runs his fingers through our hair, placing a swift kiss on our foreheads.

"Sapphire, take good care of your sister, okay?"

"But papa, I am omega. They will kill us—" I hiccup, tears rushing down my eyes.

"Shhh. You are strong my darling. Stronger than you know, I love you both sweetpies." he kisses us again, tears running down his cheeks.

"Just run okay. I will find mama, and we will come for you both okay?" he adds, rubbing my cheeks.

"Promise?" I say, sticking out my pinky.

"I promise." he replies, lacing his pinky in mine.

"Now go. Run, and don't look back until you are safe." he turns us around, and pushes.

I take a step forward with Julia's little hand woven in mine as tears blind my vision.

Pa stands turn around and runs back into the corn farm.

We start moving, the cold water soaking our body yet that is the least of my concern.

Julia is crying softly, her baby blue eyes are red.

The little clothes on our body barely covers, including that it has holes everywhere.

As we reach the border dividing our pack from the woods, I turn around.

My eyes meet a very cold blue one at the far end of the farm, his body is covered in blood.

Dressed in clothes I have never seen before, shiver runs through my spine as he takes a step forward.

"Run, run. Don't look back" I scream, following my little sister behind as we dash into the woods.

"I am scared Saph, I want mommy." she cries, her small feet still moving swiftly across the woods.

"We will be fine." I assure her.

I hear a distant howl, followed by the smell of smoke.

Tears spill past my eyes, that's the howl of victory. My pack has been taken over.

My family is gone, the pack is gone. I grab my sister, fling her across my shoulders, and run faster.

We have to be safe, for papa's sake. He promised to come find us, we have to stay alive.
