Chapter 2 - chapter two

8 Years Later

I strain my eyes as I blend with nature, my hair is covered with grass, my body wrapped in my usual leaf clothes. An antelope oblivious to the dangers around him is busy eating from the said nature.

I shouldn't kill it, and roast for dinner, but I am also feeding from nature.

This was what I had been doing for the past eight years since the attack on our pack.

We salvaged different herbs, sometimes fruits, other times we ate rats. But we have never eaten something as nice as an antelope. I have tried to catch it so many times, but I couldn't.

Not today though, today I am ready, and we will eat this animal.

Julia is around here somewhere playing with butterflies.

It's been eight good years, and he never came back. Sometimes I tried to trick myself saying he is out there somewhere, looking for me, for us.

But even as stupid as I can be, I knew that it wasn't true.

Pa never came back. He promised, yet he never came back. He picked mama over us.

I thought he wanted to go save mama, and come meet us so we could be a family once again.

But, I was wrong.

I learned as I grew that he knew he wouldn't survive the attack yet he chose to die with his wife than live with his children.

He left a twelve year old with her six year old sister so he could be with his wife.

My blood boiled anytime I thought about it. Hate stems from within as I watch the animal with guarded eyes.

A rustling sound brings my attention back to the situation at hand. Food.

When the antelope turns around, I lunge forward, grabbing its neck then sink my fangs into the spot.

The animal moves aggressively, using his hind foot he kicks me away.

My body goes flying, then lands roughly on a giant tree.

Crack.

My eyes shut down automatically as I lift my palms to my mouth, biting down to stifle the sound of pain.

I move to the side, tears burning at the back of my eyes yet I refuse to let it down. My body trembles in pain.

The antelope takes off in a run, blood trickling down his neck.

I try to move when a sudden pain shoots through me, "Ahh!!!" I can't help the scream that tears out of me.

My right hand is twisted in a very odd angle, one of my bones peeking through my flesh.

Seems like we are eating fruit again tonight.

Damnit!!! I am just so useless, so weak.

We are only able to survive because we never stay in a place for long unless other rogues might find us and tear us to shreds.

You would think rogues would be nice to each other. They are not, they kill each other, and feed on their flesh.

They are driven by the thought to kill or be killed. I didn't kill like that, I didn't fight because I knew I would be killed.

If I didn't have a sister maybe I would have let myself get killed, but I have one.

So I did the one thing I am good at, run. We were always on the run.

A devastating howl rips through the air, my ears perk up at the sound.

That sounds like Julia. I groan loudly as I struggle to get up.

"Julie, are you okay?" I mindlink, struggling to get on my feet.

"I cro—ss crossed the blood moon boundary by mistake, and they are after me. Help me please." her little voice cries into the link.

Blood drains from my body as the words sink in.

Blood moon pack, the same pack that raided our pack.

The same pack that killed our pa, and ma. That same pack has my sister.

The same pack that is ruled by a heartless tyrant who kills for sports.

"No!!" I growl out, a painful howl tears through the forest.

I won't let them take my only family, I won't let them kill my sister.

Without thinking I leap into the air, dashing through the woods.

Branches upon branches wipes at my skin, some hard enough to tear in while others cause a slight sting.

Yet, I don't care. Deep down I know I shouldn't just jump into their border.

It's like signing a death note.

I should turn back, and forget Jules's, but I can't. She is my only family left, and I will be damned to let them take her from me.

If she dies then we die together.

My feet pad faster, pain sears through my arm.

Omegas don't heal as fast as the other wolves, the broken arm is going to take about two days to heal without medical checking.

I duck down an incoming branch, thorns sink into my skin as I slide on the dirt.

I don't stop, getting to the other side I move up to my feet, continuing the race.

If I am lucky there would be only one wolf. My chances then will be a bit high.

What was she doing this far anyway?

You pamper her so much that she doesn't think properly. My wolf chided.

I snarl, refusing to listen to her talks right now.

"This is a bad idea, plan first." she growls at me.

"Shut up Wendy." I growl, furiously wiping away a tear that falls to my cheeks.

"This is a suicide mission, go back!!" she screams, clawing at me to take over.

I fight back refusing to listen, I can't go back.

If I do, the chances of getting my sister back is zero. I won't be able to get past their soldiers.

A hard hit sending me flying back.

I groan, more tears dropping down my cheeks as my body trembles in fear.

"Look what we have here, another rogue." a deep, disgusted voice rings into my ear.

Another rogue? Jules!

I scramble to my feet, staggering due to the loss of so much blood. My eyes turn as I let out a barely there groan.

"Please, she didn't mean to. Please just give me back my sister, and we will leave." I plead, clasping my hands together.

I could barely see, but I knew two tall men stood before me.

Their scent was strong, suffocating. It took all I had to not bow, and rub my belly on the floor. They probably are not just normal wolves.

"Liar, she must be a spy. What are you doing here in our territory if you didn't mean to?" he growls, snarling at me.

"Please, I was hunting, and my sister wandered off. Just let us go please." blood trickled down my left eye, momentarily blinding me.

My head is pounding, I can feel my lips go dry as my body aches everywhere.

They both burst into laughter, "Hunting? You look like you were being hunted, not the opposite." the same voice bark.

True, but that was the least of my concerns.

Using the back of my palm, I wiped away the blood covering my eyes so I could see.

They both stood about six feet tall, the one to the left stretches out his hand to grab me.

His hand grips my arm roughly, I don't think I just act. I bite down hard on his hand, he cries out, "You fucking bitch." he growls, hitting me with his other hand.

My head falls back, my feet stumble, unable to keep me up. I fell down hard again hitting my head on a rock.

More blood pours down my face as everywhere turns black, the last words I heard resounding in my head.

"Let's take them back to the pack. The Alphas would decide their fate. Filthy trash."

Alphas? How?
