CHAPTER 25 – "You Came Anyway"

The wedding wasn't just an event.

It was a spectacle.

The entire city knew.

The entire world watched.

Roads were blocked.

Security was doubled.

Media lined the distance, held back by strict boundaries that only made them more desperate.

And at the center of it all—

The Valtoria Estate.

Transformed.

Crystal structures rose like glass palaces across the grounds.

Soft white florals layered in impossible arrangements, stretching endlessly like clouds brought down to earth.

Golden lighting traced every path, every edge, every step—turning the entire space into something almost unreal.

It wasn't just beautiful.

It was overwhelming.

Exactly what Zara Valtoria wanted.

Inside—

Guests moved carefully, almost respectfully, as if afraid to disturb the perfection around them.

Billionaires.

Politicians.

People whose names alone carried weight.

But even they—Were waiting.

......

Zara stood in front of the mirror.

Still.

Silent.

Her dress was everything it needed to be.

Sharp lines. Structured elegance.

No softness. No excess.

Just perfection—designed around her, not for her.

Cassian stood behind her, adjusting a final detail.

"You're about to terrify an entire room," he said lightly.

Zara's lips curved faintly.

"They should be used to it."

Sienna stepped closer, arms folded, watching her reflection.

"You're actually doing this," she murmured.

Zara didn't answer immediately.

Because this wasn't just another deal.

Not just another controlled move.

This one…

Stayed.

"I always finish what I start," she said finally.

Sienna studied her.

Longer than usual.

"Even if it changes everything?"

Zara met her own eyes in the mirror.

"Especially then."

...

Lucien Valtieri stood at the front.Calm.

Composed.Unshaken.

But his thoughts weren't on the guests.

Or the spectacle.

Or even the expectations.

They were on one thing.

Would she show up?

Adrian leaned slightly toward him.

"You look like a man who just signed a lifetime contract."

Victor smirked.

"With no exit clause."

Lucien didn't respond.

Because for the first time—

There was something unfamiliar beneath his control.

Anticipation.

.......

The ceremony had just begun.

Music soft.

Attention fixed.

Then—A voice cut through it.

"Stop this."

The entire space froze.

Heads turned.

Murmurs spread instantly.

Isabella Valtieri.

She stood near the aisle, composed—but her eyes sharp, unyielding.

"This marriage shouldn't happen," she said.

Gasps.

Whispers.

Shock.

Lucien's expression hardened slightly.

"Mother—"

But she continued.

"This isn't right," she said.

"Lucien deserves someone who respects family, legacy—someone who understands what this union means."

Her gaze shifted.

Directly toward Zara.

"Not someone like you."

Silence.Heavy.Uncomfortable.

All eyes turned to Zara.

Waiting.

Expecting.

Zara didn't react immediately.

Didn't snap.

Didn't lash out.

She simply stepped forward.

Slowly.

Gracefully.

Her heels echoed softly as she approached Isabella.

Close enough to be heard.

"Are you done?" Zara asked calmly.

The quiet confidence in her voice—

It cut deeper than anger.

Isabella didn't back down.

"No."

Zara nodded once.

Then turned slightly.

"send her out," she said.

The words were soft.

Controlled.

Final.

Security moved immediately.

Isabella stiffened.

"This is unacceptable—"

But she was already being escorted out.

Her protests fading behind closed doors.

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Uncertain.

Then—

Zara turned back.

As if nothing had happened.

"Continue," she said.

And just like that—

Control was restored.

......

The ceremony resumed.

But something had changed.

This wasn't just power anymore.

This wasn't just strategy.

This was real.

Zara stood across from Lucien now.

Closer than ever.

For the first time—

No distractions.

No games.

No audience that mattered.

Just them.

Lucien looked at her.

Really looked.

"You came," he said quietly.

Zara held his gaze.

"I said I would," she replied.

A pause.

"And you believed me."

Lucien's lips curved slightly.

"I don't doubt you."

Something in her expression shifted.

Just slightly.

Then the officiant spoke.

Words. Promises. Formalities.

But neither of them were listening fully.

Because this—

Was no longer just a contract.

"Do you—"

"Yes."

Zara didn't wait.

A ripple moved through the crowd.

Lucien exhaled softly.

Then—

"Yes."

.......

The applause was loud.

The celebration immediate.

But in the middle of it—

Zara and Lucien stood still for a moment longer.

"You didn't hesitate," he said.

Zara's expression remained composed.

"I don't do things halfway."

Lucien studied her.

"I noticed."

A pause.

Then—

Just before the world rushed back in—

He leaned closer.

"And Zara?"

She didn't step back.

"This time," he said quietly,

"You don't get to walk away."

Zara's lips curved slightly.

"Then don't give me a reason to."

And just like that—

The contract became something else.

Not softer.

Not easier.

Just… real.
