The Awakening of Leon D. Jan
When Leon woke up on the beach, he felt an extraordinary surge of energy coursing through his veins. Standing roughly 185cm tall, he noticed his physique had transformed—his body was now lean, powerful, and packed with muscle. Looking at his reflection in the water, he saw a man with silver hair, piercing violet eyes, and a sharp, chiseled jawline. Leon smirked, realizing he wouldn't have much trouble impressing anyone with this look. To test his new limits, he found a secluded cave nearby and began a grueling routine of push-ups, squats, and stretches. To his surprise, he felt no fatigue. Testing his speed, he threw a stone toward the back of the cave and sprinted; he reached the entrance before the stone even hit the ground. "I might be as fast as a cheetah," he mused.
An Unexpected Encounter
His self-assessment was interrupted by the sound of crashing and shouting. Rushing toward the noise, Leon stumbled upon a scene that felt impossible yet real. Before him stood a boy in a red sleeveless shirt and a straw hat, a dark-skinned boy with a remarkably long nose, a blonde man in a black suit, and a green-haired swordsman in a blue shirt who looked absolutely furious. Leon realized he wasn't hallucinating: these were Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp, along with Zoro's childhood friend, Johnny.
Zoro's hand immediately flew to his sword. "How long do you plan on spying on us?" he demanded. Leon snapped out of his shock and replied calmly, "I wasn't spying. I heard screaming and came to see what was happening. Who are you?" Before Zoro could demand Leon's identity, Luffy chimed in with his signature grin: "I'm Luffy, the man who will become King of the Pirates! And this is my crew: Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp. Nami is part of the crew too, but she's not here right now."
Clashing Ideals
A brief, awkward silence followed until Leon burst into laughter. Luffy's face darkened, thinking Leon was mocking his dream. Leon looked him straight in the eye and said, "I am Leon D. Jan. I am the man who wants to see the end of the pirate's path, to find the One Piece, and to uncover all the secrets of the world."
The tension shifted when Sanji asked if Leon was from the village. Leon explained he had only arrived two hours ago. As they walked toward the village to find Nami, Leon remarked that she might have left the crew of her own accord. When Johnny accused Nami of betrayal, Leon's tone turned cold. "In the world of pirates, betrayal is often punished by death. This isn't a child's game, Luffy. If you want to be a pirate, you must be serious, or you'll regret it. If you can't handle that, go back to your village and live as a coward." Enraged, Luffy punched Leon across the face, shouting that he didn't care about the rules—Nami was his friend and his navigator, and his dream wouldn't be complete without her.
The Secret of the Tattoo
They soon met Nojiko, Nami's sister, who led them to Nami. The reunion was cold. Nami told them to leave, claiming she had only been using them. Leon noticed the mark on her shoulder. "That symbol... it belongs to the Arlong Pirates," he noted. Nami admitted she was part of Arlong's crew and challenged Leon, asking what his "captain" would do about it. Leon simply replied, "I'm not with this crew, but your secret will be exposed soon anyway." He walked away with a knowing smile as Nami warned the Straw Hats to leave before Arlong found them.
Back at the wreckage of their boat, the crew was demoralized. Usopp suggested leaving, but Leon intervened. "What will you choose, Usopp? Saving your village and friends, or abandoning your dream?" When Leon hinted that Nami was being forced into her actions, Luffy smiled. "Of course. Anyone who boards my ship is family."
Revelations and the Final Stand
Leon then surprised the group by revealing he knew their backgrounds. He identified Zoro as the "Pirate Hunter" and Sanji as the chef from Baratie. When he hinted at Sanji's hidden past, Sanji cut him off: "I don't belong to those people." Leon smiled, "You can't change the past." Sanji retorted, "Then I'll change the present and the future." Leon then turned to Usopp, confirming he was the son of Yasopp, the legendary sniper.
Finally, he looked at Luffy. "And you... the grandson of the Marine Hero, Monkey D. Garp, and the son of Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army. You come from a family of monsters." The crew was stunned by Luffy's lineage, but Leon just laughed. "I don't like injustice, and I don't plan on losing to any fish on this island."
"Help Me"
The story reached its breaking point when Arlong conspired with the corrupt Marine Captain Nezumi to seize the 100 million berries Nami had spent years stealing to buy back her village. Realizing she had been betrayed and that her years of suffering were for nothing, Nami ran to Arlong in a rage. He mocked her, reminding her that if she attacked him, the villagers would pay the price.
In total despair, Nami collapsed in the dirt. She began stabbing the Arlong tattoo on her arm, screaming in agony. Luffy stepped in and grabbed her hand to stop her. "Luffy... help me," she sobbed. Without a word, Luffy placed his precious straw hat on her head—his most prized treasure. He turned to his crew and Leon, his eyes burning with resolve.
"Let's go!" Luffy shouted.
"Right!" they answered in unison.
