The Vow and the Village's Resolve
Before leaving, Leon turned toward Nami and asked for the dagger she held. He vowed to fulfill the wish of the island's "princess" by planting that blade in the heart of the enemy. When Nami told him it wasn't his fight and asked why he was involving himself, Leon replied firmly, "I cannot witness the suffering of people and do nothing." He left her behind to follow Luffy. Meanwhile, the villagers and Genzo, moved by Nami's long-standing sacrifice, realized they could no longer let a child bear their burden. Led by Genzo's declaration that he would fight even if it were his last day, the entire village rose up, ready to face tyranny at the cost of their lives.
Strategy on the Road to Arlong Park
On the way, Leon briefed the crew on Arlong's three top officers. He identified Hatchi, the six-sword style user, whom Zoro immediately claimed as his opponent. When he mentioned Kuroobi, the Fish-Man Karate master, Sanji stepped forward to take the challenge. Leon then confirmed that Luffy would handle Arlong, and Luffy vowed to crush him for making his navigator cry. When Usopp realized a third officer remained, Leon assigned himself and Usopp to handle the rest of the crew and the final officer, Chew. Though Usopp was hesitant, Leon reassured him: "You are a sniper; do your job, and I won't let anyone get near you. We aren't the main event, but we have a part to play." He then tasked Johnny and Yosaku with the vital mission of ensuring no villagers interfered in the chaos.
The Assault Begins
The walls of Arlong Park were suddenly shattered, revealing the angry group of young men through the dust. When Luffy asked which one was Arlong, Leon pointed out the "ugly one with the big nose on the chair." Without a word, Luffy unleashed a Gomu Gomu no Pistol, sending Arlong flying and declaring he would send him to hell. Simultaneously, Leon moved with terrifying speed, eliminating Arlong's subordinates with a knife to the head. He moved with cold efficiency, refusing to look his victims in the eye for more than a second to keep his focus, as he came from a world where killing was not the norm.
The Battlefield Erupts
Zoro and Sanji joined the fray, carving a path through the pirates. When Johnny and Yosaku asked Usopp why he wasn't jumping in, he explained that a sniper keeps his distance. Just then, Usopp fired his slingshot, saving Leon from a rear ambush. Leon smiled, acknowledging the "Great Sniper," before jumping back into the slaughter, killing over fifteen men alone until Hatchi blocked his path. Zoro quickly intercepted the octopus, leaving Leon to finish the remaining fodder. Outside, the villagers watched in awe, realizing the Arlong Pirates weren't invincible. Johnny and Yosaku held them back, insisting this was the Straw Hats' battle.
The Tides of Battle
While Sanji struggled in a balanced duel against Kuroobi, Leon finished off the "side dishes" and turned his attention to the "main course." His speed and lethality left everyone, including Genzo and a hopeful Nami, in shock. Leon engaged Chew, dodging water bullets that flew like real lead. Sensing the threat Leon posed, Arlong grew desperate. As Leon closed in on Chew, Arlong lunged from the water, biting Leon's thigh. Trapped between Arlong's teeth and Chew's water bullets, Leon took a hit to his side but managed to strike Arlong in the eye, forcing the shark-man back into the pool.
The Finishing Blow
Leon knew Arlong would strike again from the water, so he set a trap. Pretending to focus entirely on Chew, Leon signaled Usopp with a glance. As Arlong leaped out for a surprise attack, Usopp fired a perfectly timed shot into Arlong's eye. Leon shouted, "The fish always enters the net!" and, despite his injuries, pivoted to deliver a massive blow that sent Arlong flying toward Luffy. Luffy met him with a devastating punch to the face, the sound of breaking teeth echoing as Arlong was launched through his own headquarters like a rocket. In the confusion, Leon lunged at Chew, driving his knife home and ending the officer's life. Seeing the tide turn, Sanji turned to Zoro and muttered, "Hey, Moss-head, how long are we going to stay on the sidelines? It's time to get serious.
