Chapter 153 - 153

The painful roars grew louder and louder, powerful enough to make the entire laboratory building tremble faintly.

Faced with Mordo's confusion and questions, the Ancient One merely shook her head. Not only did she say nothing, she instead stared ahead with great interest, as if enjoying the sight.

"Master, should we help him?"

After a moment passed like this, and Fenris's voice grew lower and lower, Mordo finally could not sit still. He turned to the Ancient One and asked.

"No."

To his surprise, the Ancient One shook her head with absolute certainty. "We cannot help him."

"Why?"

"Look."

The Ancient One took out a folding fan and lightly tapped the air. As the Mirror Dimension shifted, the artificial sun rapidly enlarged in Mordo's vision. The next instant, Mordo discovered that he had already arrived inside it.

"Is that Fenris?"

Mordo fixed his eyes upward, but the sight that entered his vision made his pupils contract at once. His powerful body jolted sharply.

Compared to his former terrifying and imposing appearance, Fenris looked far more miserable now.

The skin across his entire body had already melted away completely. His muscles and internal organs were gone as well, leaving only a massive skeleton.

A purple-black glow coiled around the bones, but it had become extremely dim.

At the core of the skeleton, an organ radiating a faint blue light had still survived beneath the scorching heat. A mass of dark mist was wrapped around Fenris. It was the divine power Fenris had plundered from the Panther God's divine realm.

"He's actually still... alive?"

Mordo shuddered violently. Even he, who had always known no fear, felt an instinctive terror when he saw the scene before him, a terror he himself had not even realized had arisen.

"Of course."

The Ancient One smiled. "How could he possibly die?"

Sure enough, the moment her voice fell, Mordo saw Fenris's massive skeleton suddenly begin to shake without warning, producing a piercing creak.

Immediately after, a brilliant rainbow radiance abruptly lit up from Fenris's head, flowing across his entire body in an instant.

Under the illumination of that light, both the purple-black ghostly glow on his bones and the blue fluorescence wrapped around that strange organ seemed to regain entirely new vitality, blazing brightly all at once.

Only a few breaths passed. Under Mordo's shocked gaze, new flesh actually began growing over Fenris's bare skeleton at a speed visible to the naked eye.

It was like a withered tree sprouting new buds, or parched earth finally receiving rain. A dense and powerful life force suddenly spread out from Fenris's body.

"This..."

Mordo stared blankly at the miraculous scene. He raised a hand and rubbed his eyes hard, unable to believe what was happening before him.

"You will get used to it."

The Ancient One lightly waved her folding fan, unable to hide the delight on her face.

"I finally made it through..."

At this moment, Fenris could barely sense anything outside.

On the contrary, after experiencing that indescribable burning agony, his consciousness had never dispersed. Instead, he had watched helplessly as everything on his body melted away, leaving him as nothing more than that bare skeleton.

Fortunately, all that suffering had been worth it.

The situation reversed. With the rebirth of his body, Fenris's size began to swell like a balloon. In the blink of an eye, he had grown more than twice as large as before.

Feeling the strength continuously surging through him, Fenris gently stretched his tingling body and finally let out a breath of relief.

The terrifying heat around him could no longer harm him at all. As warmth flowed through his entire body, Fenris instinctively extended the tendrils of his mind into every tiny part of himself.

"This is..."

The new body he sensed made Fenris instinctively jolt in surprise.

After this tempering through thermonuclear fusion, Fenris discovered that the cells throughout his entire body were already completely different from before.

His original cells had naturally been powerful beyond question.

Not only had they granted Fenris a formidable physique and tremendous strength, they had also allowed him to continuously absorb nuclear energy to strengthen himself.

During that growth process, Fenris's body would become larger and larger, while his strength increased explosively at an exponential rate.

However, with only that first moment of perception, Fenris realized that his newly born cells were even more terrifying than before. The moment he experienced them, even Fenris himself could not help but marvel. From the bottom of his heart, he felt their sheer power.

After this ultimate tempering, the new cells granted Fenris even greater strength and an even more impenetrable defense. More importantly, they had evolved a formidable adaptability that far surpassed what he had possessed before.

In other words, Fenris now had an even broader path of evolution. He could also highly mutate his own body, allowing it to easily adapt to all kinds of extreme environments.

"This is practically another form of immortality..."

Once he realized this, a sharp light flashed in Fenris's eyes. The sudden surprise made his mind go dizzy for a moment.

Yet the nearly limitless regenerative ability granted by his new cells restored his consciousness to normal in an instant.

At the same time, every tissue and organ, including his muscles and skin, began repairing at a speed countless times faster than before. Fenris's body, which had been completely burned away, was being rebuilt.

During this process, the energy released by the violent fusion reaction around him was devoured by Fenris's cells like a whale swallowing the sea.

Fenris clearly sensed the surface of his skin becoming scorching hot. His purple-black skin, which had gained its color from absorbing the power of Dormammu's Dark Dimension, began to give off a faint glow.

The energy absorbed into the depths of his cells would be stored inside Fenris's body. When needed, it could be released, erupting with terrifying force.

"You have grown even stronger, Fenris."

The Ancient One's eyes flickered as she took in every change happening to Fenris.

If she could still easily deal with the previous Fenris, then this Fenris, who now possessed nearly boundless potential, was no longer someone she could casually control.

At the same time, inside the laboratory.

While Fenris was joyfully adapting to his brand-new body, everyone outside had pricked up their ears.

However, when Connors realized he could no longer hear any sound from Fenris, his heart abruptly rose into his throat.

"No. We have to save him!"

Looking at the massive fireball that was no longer releasing heat outward, Connors refused to wait even a moment longer. He turned his gaze directly toward Tony Stark beside him.

"Stark, this thing doesn't have much destructive power left. Let's blow it open!"

During this time, Tony had already finished putting on his suit.

Hearing the anxiety in Connors's voice, Tony's faceplate closed, and he began scanning the massive fireball.

"The energy inside it is still extremely violent. Acting directly can destroy it, but the backlash will fall on Fenris himself..."

After carefully judging the situation for a moment, Tony sighed.

"That's still better than standing here and watching."

Connors urged him anxiously. "Do it, Stark!"

"Fine!"

Tony clenched his teeth. His shoulder armor opened, and several micro-missiles locked into firing position.

"Stop. Doing that will only make things worse."

Two sets of footsteps came from a corner of the laboratory.

Tony's vision blurred for an instant. The next moment, the targeting system in his suit completely failed.

At some point, intricate golden magic circles had spread across the surface of the artificial sun, forming a shield that wrapped tightly around it.
