Valeria sat on the flight back home and stared blankly ahead of her without really seeing anything. She could still see the moment over and over again in her mind and no matter how hard she tried to think about something else, it kept replaying.
She remembered sitting between her grandparents just hours ago. She remembered Catherine holding one of her hands and Jamison holding the other. She remembered them telling her they could never hate her.
Then she remembered saying it, telling them that Aziel Rhodes was her mate and she remembered exactly what happened afterwards. The way her grandfather's body had gone rigid, the way his hand had fallen away from hers.
The empty look on his face.
It was that moment that kept repeating in her head.
Again. And again. And again.
