Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: First Clash

The timer was ticking. Fifteen minutes. Fifteen minutes to decide your fate.

Veyrix Noctar stood silently, watching every twitch, every glance of the other participants.

The arena was no longer just empty walls—it had become a chessboard.

Drax Veylor charged first. His anger burned like fire.

"Enough words! I'll prove who's stronger!"

He swung his fist toward a smaller boy.

The boy dodged clumsily and fell. Panic spread instantly.

Selara stepped forward, gracefully intercepting Drax.

"You're reckless," she whispered, almost amused.

"Brute strength without thought will destroy you first."

Drax snarled, frustration visible in every movement.

Veyrix watched.

Observe first. Strike second. Ego is broken with a single calculated move.

He moved silently, unseen. Then, in a blur, he intercepted Drax.

A touch, subtle, almost invisible. But it hit Drax where it hurt—not his body, his mind.

EGO STATUS: CRITICAL

Drax froze. Confusion, anger, fear—all at once.

Author's Thoughts:

Physical strength is useless if your mind is unstable. Veyrix knows this. One word, one action at the right moment can shatter ego completely.

Drax stumbled backward, losing his composure.

The other participants gasped.

Veyrix hadn't raised a hand.

He hadn't even shouted.

And yet, Drax was broken.

Selara's eyes widened slightly.

"You… are extraordinary," she said quietly.

Veyrix tilted his head.

Extraordinary? No. Calculated.

The system's voice echoed:

MISSION UPDATE:

Any participant whose ego drops to zero will be removed.

Remaining participants will gain experience points for strategy and observation.

The participants began whispering frantically. Alliances were fragile; fear and greed spread like wildfire.

Veyrix's eyes scanned the room.

Everyone has a weakness. Everyone has a crack. And I will find it.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed his shoulder.

It was Selara.

"Choose carefully who you trust. Everyone wants to survive… but not everyone will help you."

Veyrix nodded slightly.

Trust is a tool. Doubt is a weapon. And I hold both.

The timer ticked down.

The first clash was over.

But the arena was only beginning to show its true rules.

The shadows of the arena seemed to grow longer.

This was only the start.

The game, the mind, the ego battles… everything was escalating.

Veyrix Noctar had survived again.

But the real war—the war of wits—was about to begin.
