The family carefully prepared the engagement ceremony in grand style.
Kim, Ivy and Vanessa wore dresses designed by the best fashion
designer in town. Mavis was on cloud nine and looked so elegant that
Leo couldn't take his eyes off her which disgusted her. Savvy was
having a chat with someone when she heard a commotion nearby. She
went on to see what was happening, only to find Adele fighting with
some people. "Why don't you mind your business? When you Rita got
married to your grandfather's friend did anyone complain?". Savvy just
took her away. The women felt ashamed. The engagement continued
peacefully till it ended.
A day after the engagement, Nessa went to Ruth's apartment and saw
smoke coming out of the room. She called for help and few people

Vanessa took a cab and sent her to the Martinez mansion. The moment
she entered the house, everyone surrounded her and asked what
happened. She ignored them and went for the phonebook to call the

The doctor treated her and hours later, she woke up. Vanessa asked her

a change of decision" Mavis said. Everyone's attention moved to Kim,
expecting an answer or reaction but none came. She just left the room
sadly. Ivy followed her, while Vanessa stayed with Ruth. "Cous, are you
okay?" Ivy asked. "I'm fine and I want to be alone for a while," Kim
muttered so Ivy left her and went inside. "No Kim, this is not a time to be selfish. I'm not changing my decision" she said to herself while
cleaning her tears.
