The church in the slums sent an official letter to the Duchess of Carnoire. The letter detailed the church’s desire to collaborate with us and devise some new projects. The way the letter was written was polite enough, but their demands were comparatively arrogant. I put it down and took a moment to think.
While the House of Carnoire was a dominant power in the region, the Church of Excius was in a position where they offered a slight departure from secular power relations. Even the Imperial Family wouldn’t behave recklessly when it came to the church.
From the priest’s letter, it was evident that we would not want to butt heads with them over something as trivial as our charity. His assumption was entirely wrong.
