Chan walked silently through the empty street.
The cold night wind brushed against his face, but he felt nothing. His mother was gone… and the money he fought for meant nothing now.
His fists slowly tightened.
"Han… Lee… I will make you regret the day you betrayed me."
"Do you think that's the right thing to do now?" Yommy asked.
Chan paused for a moment.
"What do you think I should do now? …Wait, I think I need to go see Zack."
He turned and hurried toward Zack's apartment.
When he arrived, the house was empty—so empty it felt like no one had ever lived there. Confused, Chan stepped inside. The only thing in the room was a table at the center.
On it lay a phone and a letter.
He picked up the letter and began to read:
"Chan, I'm sorry for your loss. I know how it feels to lose someone you love and cherish. Don't worry about your little sister—she's safe.
I have been watching you for a long time now. I've seen your struggles… the humiliation from loan companies, your classmates, and many others.
Do you want to continue living like that, or do you want me to help you?
I was there when you got shot. You died—and I gave you a new life. How are you enjoying your new partner?
You owe me now. I'll give you everything you want, and in return, you'll work for me.
If you agree to this proposal, dial 0 on the phone."
Chan lowered the letter slowly, confusion written all over his face.
He tried to recall Zack's face, but everything felt blurry.
"Who is this person…? How does he know everything about me? My sister too… and why now, after my mom is gone?"
Thoughts stormed his mind.
After a moment, he clenched his jaw.
"If I could trust Lee and get betrayed… then I can take this risk too. I've got nothing left anyway."
He picked up the phone and dialed 0.
It rang immediately.
An unknown caller.
Chan answered.
"So… you accept my proposal?" a cold voice said.
Chan froze for a second—he recognized the voice.
Zack.
"Yes," Chan replied. "What kind of work do you want me to do?"
"When the time comes, you'll know. For now, get ready. You need to suit up," Zack said.
"What do you mean by 'suit up'?" Chan asked.
"You agreed to the deal. There's no going back. As I said in the letter, you'll get everything you want—but you must complete my jobs perfectly."
Chan frowned slightly.
"You've been watching me all this time. You knew I needed money for my mom's treatment… why didn't you help me then?"
"It wasn't time yet. I needed to see what you were capable of. And now I know—you're good enough. Don't worry about your sister; she's in safe hands. Look to your left—you'll see a briefcase. Open it."
Chan turned and saw it.
"Inside, there's an address. There's also a handgun for your protection. Go to that address and retrieve my gold wristwatch."
The call ended.
Chan slowly opened the briefcase. Inside were a gun and a piece of paper with an address written on it.
A faint, cold grin appeared on his face.
Without hesitation, he left the house and hailed a cab.
Inside the cab, he pulled out the gun, staring at it strangely.
"You look happy holding that," Yommy said.
"Hm… I think this is who I am now. This is what I want. The world should accept me as I am," Chan replied coldly.
Soon, they arrived at the address.
Chan stepped out and looked around. The place felt… familiar.
He checked the house number, then looked at the paper again it matched. He walked to the door and rang the bell.
"Who is it?" a voice asked from inside.
"It's Chan."
The door opened.
"Hey man, how have you been?" the man said warmly.
"I've been well… and you? It's been a while," Chan replied, his eyes subtly shifting to the man's wrist.
The watch.
"It's all good. What brings you here after so long?" the man asked.
"Yeah… have you seen Lee? I need him for something. Since you're his older brother, I figured you might know where he is," Chan said with a faint smile.
"Oh, I see. Come in. Let me get you a beer—"
"Are you sure?"
The man turned and froze. Chan was pointing a gun at the back of his head.
"Hey… what's going on? Why is there a gun pointed at me?" the man asked, confused.
"I'm just doing my job, Uncle John," Chan said coldly.
"Your job? Who sent you? Did something happen between you and Lee?" John asked, his voice shaking.
"I'll take that as a yes."
Chan's finger trembled slightly on the trigger.
For a brief moment, his mother's gentle smile flashed through his mind.
Then—Chan's gunshots.His eyes hardened.
Bang.
John dropped.
"Hm… two kills now. You're becoming something else," Yommy said.
"Yeah… I guess I am," Chan replied calmly.
He walked out of the house without looking back.
Outside, he took a picture of the watch and sent it to Zack as proof.
Later, Chan sat by the riverbank, staring at the flowing water.
Everything had changed so fast.
He wasn't afraid to kill anymore.
But deep inside… something still felt off.
"Would my mom be proud of me?" he whispered.
He thought about his sister.
"I won't let her get involved in this… she deserves better."
He stared at his hands.
He didn't even flinch when he pulled the trigger.
"Guess this is my life now," he muttered. "Life treated me unfairly… now it's my turn."
"What a speech," Yommy said playfully. "So you're an evil villain now? Who's going to save the world from you?"
Chan gave a faint smile.
"I had better plans… but life didn't give me the chance. So now, life has to accept me."
Just then his phone rang.
