Huxley lowered the phone onto the coffee table. He rubbed his temples, a heavy sigh escaping him as he looked over at Edith. His daughter stood before him with a stubborn tilt to her chin, having just demanded to leave for the capital borders.
"I cannot send you there," Huxley said. "I just got an update on the situation. Viktor is perfectly fine. As a beta warrior, it is his duty to stand his ground, and he cannot simply step back."
"Dad, I understand your concern," Edith said, stepping closer. "But I need to see him with my own eyes. Besides, I am an alpha princess. Do you honestly think anyone out there can easily hurt me? I promise you I will be careful. You know how much I love Viktor and you understand what that means, Dad. Your daughter isn't a child anymore."
