Chapter 4 - aura?!

Liv's POV

"Sylvie, you're new, right? You can skip next period to explore the campus. I'll tell someone… Celeste, show Liv around, would you?"

Mrs. Kathe announced.

I was more than happy to skip next class especially since it was algebra, even though I had no idea who this Celeste girl was.

Celeste smiled warmly and pulled me outside.

She was literally more excited than me.

Gosh. Is this entire school full of yappers?

She started talking like it was the end of the world or something.

About the school, library, cafeteria, staff, teachers, principal, students, and even its history.

Bro… I don't need a full documentary.

While we were walking, we noticed a teacher and a guy heading toward a building.

What office was that…?

'Elite Student Body Council'??

"Uh… what's that?" I asked, pointing.

"Oh! That's the ESC. Elite Student Body Council," Celeste said. "The elected student representatives work there.President, vice president, secretary, treasurer, PRO… they basically run the school. Especially…"

She paused.

I followed her gaze.

"Him," she whispered. "That's the ESC President. Adrian Bennett Marcus."

I froze.

"…Adrian?" I repeated, frowning slightly.

Celeste nodded, clearly confused by my reaction.

"He's like… the king here. No one messes with him. He's good at everything. Academics, leadership, everything. And…" she lowered her voice, blushing a little, "…everyone says he's really handsome."

I nearly choked.

"He has this… aura," she continued. "Like, you can feel it. No one crosses him. Not even teachers."

I just stood there.

Aura…?

What kind of school did I walk into?

Then he looked at us.

No smile. Nothing.

Rude.

A second later, he gestured for me to come over.

I blinked.

"…Me?"

Celeste nodded quickly. "Go."

I walked toward the office, trying to act normal.

Inside, it was… insane.

Air conditioning.

Clean desks.

Golden lights.

Okay… rich much?

There was no one else inside.

I sat across from him, crossing my legs casually.

"Still remember you're in front of the ESC President?" he said, raising an eyebrow. "Show some respect."

I rolled my eyes.

"Relax. I didn't know there was a rulebook for sitting."

He let out a quiet chuckle.

"You've got attitude."

"And you've got a superiority complex," I shot back.

That seemed to amuse him more.

"You talk like you know me," he said, leaning back slightly.

I shrugged. "You don't look that hard to figure out."

He smirked faintly.

"Careful. People don't usually talk to me like that."

"Then maybe they should."

There was a brief silence.

He studied me for a moment, longer than necessary.

"Interesting," he muttered.

I frowned. "What?"

"Nothing."

I leaned forward slightly. "Then why did you call me here?"

He tapped his fingers against the desk lazily.

"Just wanted to see the new student everyone's talking about."

"That's it?" I raised an eyebrow.

"For now."

I clicked my tongue. "What a waste of time."

I stood up, about to leave when,

"Ms. Vega."

I paused.

"Don't wander around too much alone," he said, his tone quieter this time.

I turned, confused. "Why? Scared I'll get lost?"

He didn't smile.

"Just… be careful."

Something about the way he said it made me pause.

But I brushed it off.

"I'll survive," I replied.

For a second, his gaze lingered on me. Not sharp like before… something else.

Then it was gone.

"Try not to cause too much trouble," he added, back to his usual tone.

I smirked slightly. "No promises."

And with that, I walked out.

Ugh.

This school really is something else....
