Chapter 5 - chaos

Liv's POV

By the time I left the ESC office, it was already lunch.

Few students gave me weird stares for stepping out of the ESC office.

During lunch, few students curiosity led to continuous stares at me.

I sat at a table alone when I caught few guys including the Theo guy staring at me.

I look at them confused.

Gosh, let me eat in peace!

The guys came up to me.

"Uh. You're the new student right?"

A guy in the group asked me. I nodded.

"Mrs.Kathe told to tell you to meet her after eating."

Another guy said.

"Do you know why?"

I asked. They just shook their heads. I continued eating. Faster this time.

After I finished, Theo came up to me.

Gosh he was kinda handsome to the point I can't even look straight into his eyes.

Those deep black eyes....

"You done?"

Theo asked. I nodded.

"Follow me to Mrs. Kathe's office"

I started walking behind him.

Gosh I was blushing and shaking at the same time!

We reached the office.

"Liv checking your previous records I can see you have a great foundation in English right? I would like to make you the secretary of the English club. If you want to?"

I paused and nodded.

"Great! Theo would you mind leading her to the ESC President to get her marked?"

Mrs. Kathe asked Theo. He nodded. I wanted to laugh since I knew who I'd be ending up in front of.

We both started walking. He took quick glances at me but turned away.

When we reached the ESC office, many teachers and students smiled at Theo.

And finally, we ended up in front of Adrian.

He gave me a side eye. He definitely thought of it the wrong way...

"Mr.Bennett, we have our new Second Year English Club secretary. I request you to mark it in the register please"

Theo said to Adrian so calmly.

Mr. Bennett?

The only Mr. Bennett I knew was our dad.

Damn. People are so respectful huh?

Adrian marked something in the register, still giving me a death stare.

Gosh I promise you we're not dating.

But I might... think he's handsome I guess...

I followed Theo into the ESC office English Department, my legs feeling like jelly. The place was quieter than the rest of the campus.

...calm, organized, with students typing away or whispering quietly. He motioned to a desk and I hesitated, looking around nervously.

"Sit,"

he said simply, pointing at a chair. I obeyed, trying not to stare too much at him. Not that it helped, his presence made it impossible to focus.

"So… you're the new secretary," he continued casually, flipping through some papers.

"Mrs. Kathe speaks highly of you. Don't mess it up."

I scoffed, crossing my arms.

"Don't worry. I don't mess up. Usually."

He glanced at me, one eyebrow raised, clearly amused.

"Usually?"

I shrugged.

"Fine. Always. Happy now?"

He smirked, looking strangely… impressed? Ugh, gross. Why did I care what he thought?

Then my eyes flicked to the corner of the room, and there he was...Adrian. Leaning casually against a desk, arms crossed, golden light catching the edges of his hair. Even here, his aura made everyone stop in their tracks. My stomach did a weird flip. Why did he have to be everywhere I go?

Adrian's gaze landed on me, sharp and unreadable. I straightened up instinctively, crossing my legs tighter.

Theo noticed my reaction and chuckled quietly.

"Relax. He's just… intimidating. Don't bite him."

I gave him a death glare.

"I wasn't going to."

"Sure you weren't,"

he muttered, smirking again.

Adrian finally walked over, every step deliberate. He stopped in front of me, scanning my face like he was memorizing me. My heart thudded loudly way too loudly.

"Ms. Vega," he said, his voice low, smooth, and completely controlled.

"Secretary. Got it. You'll report here whenever required. Don't disappoint me."

I nodded quickly.

"Got it, Mr. Bennett."

He gave me a quick side-eye and then moved away, his presence still lingering like smoke. Theo laughed softly.

"Welcome to Northvale. Things just got… interesting for you."

I groaned.

"Interesting? I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing…"

Theo smirked knowingly.

"You'll find out soon enough."

I sank back in my chair, letting out a deep breath. My first official day was already turning into a whirlwind of chaos. Students staring, secretaries, presidents, golden lights, and intimidating aura… yep. Definitely chaos.

And this was only the beginning.
