The journey back went much faster than in the morning. Maybe because I no longer had to think about what awaited me. Now everything was on U.A.
I sat on the train, watching the scenery pass by outside the window. Fatigue was slowly starting to set in, but it wasn't too bad. I'd been able to regenerate most of my energy much more efficiently over the past few years than I had before.
And now I just had to wait.
I hate waiting.
"You inherited that from humans."
"And you, after whom?"
"After the basilisks."
"That explains a lot."
When I finally arrived home, the sun was slowly setting.
I unlocked the door and walked in. "I'm home." My mother's voice immediately came from the kitchen. "How did it go?!" I had to smile, she hadn't even said hello properly. I walked into the kitchen, where she was preparing dinner. "I think it's good."
"You think so?"
"I don't know, the results will come later." Mom looked at me for a few seconds. "So?"
"So I didn't die."
„Mephisto!"
"What? That's important information."
She sighed and shook her head. "Sometimes I feel like you're weird."
"Only sometimes?" This time she threw a towel at me, I dodged it, just barely.
Later that evening I lay in my room staring at the ceiling. The exams were over, now all that was left was to wait for the verdict. Whatever it was. The next few days would decide my entire future. And maybe even whether I would even remember my past life.
