Chapter 28 - Kuzas Region 01

What was once known as the fourth area within The Decagon, this was included by the facility and the Avelon counterparts. That all changed when the nine demons were announced in the game. They were not just restricted to the Avelon portion of the game either. That was only where their skills and abilities were restricted to. Within the facility, they still have those same insane max level base stats that they do within Avelon. Thus, what happened to the four areas is a result of that being the case. Normally, player killers, bandit killers, and bandits are not allowed within settlements of any kind once they have become one of those three, though all of them start out as player killers. If they become a bandit or bandit killer, it is another choice they have to make for themselves, though. That was an absolute rule that applied to all settlements, from the single house to small village to town to cities to all the way up to the massive mega city state that starting area was. Once one had become a player killer, regardless of how it happened or why, they were banned from them all without exception or mercy. Further bans would be given to bandits by those who were decided by those against them.

Everyone said that was the rule and that it could not be changed. That turned out to be true, as that rule can not be changed, however what can be is that it only applies to settlements, not ruins. That was not the loophole that was discovered, but how the rules could be used to one's advantage if they wanted to do so. Thus, Kuzas Iavko the Dragon, also known as the Fourth Demon and the only current beta tester who has revealed himself to one of the demons. He discovered that if one completely destroys a settlement, then it no longer counts as one anymore as long as it remains mere ruins. As ruins are not considered a settlement, otherwise the ruins that exist all around Avelon would be inaccessible to player killers, bandit killers, and bandits. So, with the massive powers and abilities that Kuzas gain by becoming a demon. They put to the test something that players who were basically bandits in everything but name were always thinking. Just like there were player killers that never killed another player and bandit killers that only killed bandits. Some players only killed bandits and actually worked with them as well too. The benefits were something that worked in both of their favor, as they each proved something the other lacked. Players had access to all kinds of settlements but could only kill bandits, while bandits could kill everyone and anyone they wanted, but were not allowed in any settlements anymore.

It was a relationship that worked between the two and those who had some brains in their head. Those who were capable of critical thinking and long term planning rather than short term gains. Of course, this was like the old tale of the scorpion and the frog. A scorpion asked a frog to take it across a body of water and then killed it halfway through. Proclaiming it was their nature to sting. While that was still the case, even though regardless of what type of player they were, a player was always the frog in this case. Regardless of who they were in this case, be it a player killer, a bandit killer, or a bandit, they were all scorpions. The difference for the latter was that not all scorpions acted on their nature and suppressed it to work together with frogs when needed.

Although this is where things differ from the old tale, as the frog in the tale was a normal frog, whereas in Avelon, in this tale, the frog is different. While there are many normal frogs, there are numerous poisonous frogs as well that have a poisonous nature, thus to naive scorpions that think they just sting the frog because it's their nature. They get a rude awakening when they discover their poison does not work because it has been counteracted by a stronger one, and that they were the ones getting betrayed first instead. The naive ones were poisoned from the moment they stepped on the frog's back, and thus died before they could even think about stinging themselves. There are naive poisonous frogs that still die, but those are the naive ones or the ones that led their guard down. Thus, however things were between two poisonous creatures within this game called The Decagon were handled.

Kuzas, both as a player and a beta tester, he was once one of those poisonous frogs, yet he became something worse, a creature that fed on both willingly, as demons were not restricted by the same rules as players were, because they were no longer considered players but their own thing now in demons that were pretending to be players instead. Thus, they do whatever they want and bypass the rules that restricted players because they were no longer considered one of them, but their own different thing now.

The other eight decided to continue playing by the rules set for players to hide themselves further. Not giving anymore a hint of their true nature anymore by allowing themselves to be subjected to the rules set for players. Kuzas, though, they were a different breed, as he openly took out everyone and anyone that he wanted whenever they wanted. As a poisonous frog that became something far worse, what they did was destroy the fourth area of The Decagon. Not just the fourth starting area but the fourth area of the facility as well, with their own two hands. That figurative in the Avelon as they actually used their abilities and skills to wipe out the city in the true form of a massive dragon. In the facility, though, that was literal, as they tore the place down to the ground with their bare hands. No one was able to stop Beta Tester 83, as they were just too strong to be stopped, and players who thought they could handle them because they were physically invulnerable.
