Both Sarah and Gino just believed my alibi. And that gave me a way out on everything.
"You just lied. You made me your scapegoat." Millien said frowning.
I handed him some cookie and that shut him up.
"You're convenient. Rather than explaining something unbelievable."
"And I am?"
"Yes. Look at them. They believed it. Since Sarah can see your figure." I whispered.
Sarah and Gino are now busy typing our the task in their computers. Even made it look like a legal report or sort.
And I was busying myself, scrolling on my notebook.
Well, pretending to write, but I'm scrolling the system window.
I unlocked skills, new features, bought new items and other stuff to prepare us for the day we face the vicious spirit.
Hopefully it remains vengeful.
"System, how many accident does the vengeful spirit needs to enter the next phase?" I whispered.
[TWO MORE ACCIDENTS AND IT WILL ENTER THE VICIOUS PHASE.]
There's still a chance.
I stood up immediately and called Sarah and Gino's attention.
"Hey, what time does your class end Sarah?"
Sarah looked away from her computer screen and towards me.
"Till 4:30. We can always meet at 5 back here later. For our club activities." She said, stopping everything she was doing.
"That's right. Later at 5. We meet back here again. Since Gino and I are classmates, we can head together after our 4 PM class."
Gino nodded and leaned back a bit.
"What's wrong? Are we gonna do something?" He asked.
"Yes. We will have our first official investigation. We're gonna look for that spirit." I declared.
Both looked at each other and nodded. Gino was the very excited one. Grinning widely.
"I'll handle the document for it. Just for compilation." Sarah got back to her computer and started laying out formats for the records of our investigation.
When the door bell rang for the start of the afternoon class. We all left the club room and locked it.
Gino and I went to ours, while Sarah went to a different building for hers..
The classes went on like normal, but got stopped by the sudden commotion of students running.
"Kyaaaaa!" One girl limping dropped in front of our classroom.
Because of it, the classes were disturbed....or so I thought.
It was all an illusion. But the girl screaming was real.
The shadowman was behind her sucking her vitality. Just like what it did with Sarah on the first day of school.
I thought it was being silent. But it was just looking for its next victim.
I couldn't even focus on the lecture now. I could hear her voice, desperate for help.
Wait up. That doesn't add up.
The shadowman never scare anyone like this. Something's really weird about it.
"Help me! Help!"
The screams went louder. But none even heard her, except for me.
They're all focused on the topic discussed, while she's literally scrambling, crawling on her back, looking at something.
I clenched my fists because I couldn't take it anymore.
"Millien, check it out. Tell me what's the cause." I whispered to him.
Millien didn't even retort. Maybe because the cookies has been doing its magic, and his loyalty to me has already been established.
He hopped away from my shoulder towards the door.
I followed him with my gaze, by the end of my vision, and Millien disappeared to a corner.
Moments later, Millien came back running.
"Anthony, you need to intervene. The vengeful spirit is showing herself. By will. She's chasing that student, while the shadowman kept the illusion and blocked off everyone's vision and hearing on what's really happening." He said urgently.
I stood up from my chair quite harshly, making them all look at me.
I clutched my stomach and pretended to have diarrhea.
Who cares about dignity when what's at stake right now was a life.
"Professor, sir... I needed to use the restroom."
Some started laughing at be me. Some even mocked me, and asked what I have eaten to be like this.
But when Gino looked at me, I gestured for him to follow. Tilting my head.
He got it and made a much even more dramatic act.
"Ow. My stomach. Seems like we ate something bad during lunch Anthony."
Since there's two of us now. The professor looked worried. And told us we're excuse. And also he will ask about the cafeteria's dishes being served.
Not because of me. But because of Gino.
"Oh, it's not the cafeteria's food, professor. It's something I brought for lunch." Gino said.
Then we excused ourselves and I pulled him towards the stairs, just within the class hallway.
"Gino, listen to me. The vengeful spirit is here. And she's currently chasing a girl student. The shadowman did something to block off everyone's vision and hearing. An illusion."
I took out an eyeglasses. I purchased it with 500 points at that. Handing it...
Reluctantly handling it to Gino.
He took it... About to. But my hands won't let go.
"Anthony, you giving it to me or not?" He said, raising a brow.
"My points..." I closed my eyes and let go.
Gino checked it out first, turning it around. Maybe looking for a brand he doesn't see.
"Wear it. It's something I bought, and it's really expensive. Once you wear it, you'll see what I'll see." I explained to him with a pang in my chest.
I actually teared up. Points are hard to come by. And I'm making sure they'll earn them for me too.
Gino wore the glasses and stepped back a bit when he saw what was happening. He was about to run towards the girl student when I stopped him.
"What are you doing Anthony, she needs help. Look.. she's bruised and her ankle's sprained." Gino said angrily.
"I can see it too. The bruises and swelling. But... Acting recklessly will make it even worse."
"What worse than that?" He pointed towards the girl, now trying to stand up.
She wasn't able to see us. That's for sure. Since we're just near the staircase.
"She can't see us. She's under an illusion. Heard of lamat?" I said.
"I heard. That's when you're getting played at or something." Gino said, while looking at the girl.
"She's under that illusion. And it's the shadowman's doing. Let her come close to us before we intervene. Or we will freak her out."
