Chapter 1 - Tsunade

Chapter 1: Tsunade

In the early light of morning, Kazuma Yumesaki roused himself from sleep. Slipping into his sandals, he made his way to the bathroom. After taking care of business and shaking off the last lingering traces of drowsiness, he stepped up to the sink, twisted the faucet, and began his morning wash.

Once finished, Yumesaki changed into fresh clothes and laced up his sneakers. He headed downstairs toward the steamed bun stall located by the housing complex gates to pick up three batches of buns. Not stopping there, he visited the breakfast shop next door, adding three sticks of deep-fried dough, three cups of sweet tofu pudding, three servings of savory sauce-glazed pancakes, and three stuffed egg pancakes to his haul.

With his arms full of plastic bags heavy with food, Yumesaki made his way back inside his home.

He walked up to his bedroom door and closed it firmly behind him.

After taking a long, steadying breath, Yumesaki reached out and pulled the bedroom door open once more.

In an instant, the view beyond the threshold underwent a staggering transformation.

What lay before his eyes was no longer the familiar bedroom he knew.

Instead, it was a Japanese-style living room.

The floor was laid with traditional tatami mats, and in the center stood a low tea table cluttered with seven or eight empty liquor bottles.

Sprawled beside the table was a woman, fast asleep and dead to the world.

The air was thick with the heavy, pungent aroma of alcohol.

Yumesaki didn't find this strange in the slightest. He stepped through the doorway, entered the living room, and set the bags of food down onto the tea table. Then, he gave the sleeping woman a nudge with his foot.

"Wake up. Hey, wake up."

It didn't take long for the woman to rouse from her slumber. She blinked her eyes open blearily and squinted up at Yumesaki.

"Oh, it's just you... Is it noon already?" The woman let out a wide yawn, crawling up from the floor with a lazy stretch. She sat down before the tea table, her nose twitching as she caught a scent. A small smile played on her lips as she asked, "So, what kind of good stuff did you buy today?"

"Xiaolongbao, fried dough sticks, tofu pudding, sauce pancakes, and stuffed egg pancakes. It's all in portions for three."

Yumesaki swept the empty liquor bottles off the table to clear some space. He began unpacking the food from the plastic bags, arranging the containers one by one in front of the woman. As he worked, he asked casually:

"Where's Shizune?"

The woman picked up a pair of chopsticks, deftly snagging a soup dumpling and popping it into her mouth. Between chews, she replied, "She went out to meet some friends yesterday and didn't come back all night. She probably drank way too much."

Yumesaki couldn't help but click his tongue. "Then I definitely bought too much breakfast today."

"What are you worried about? You still have me, don't you? Don't go underestimating my appetite."

As the woman spoke, she had already nearly polished off the first batch of steamed buns. Without missing a beat, she reached out for an egg pancake.

Indeed, the woman sitting before Yumesaki—looking disheveled and smelling like a brewery—was none other than the Fifth Hokage of the Naruto world.

Tsunade.

As for why Yumesaki was able to visit this world, let alone deliver breakfast to Tsunade, the story goes back to one month ago.

It was a morning just like any other.

After Yumesaki crawled out of bed, the first thing he did was head for the bathroom.

However, when he opened the bathroom door, what appeared before his eyes wasn't a cramped room of a few square meters.

Instead, it was a Japanese-style bedroom.

Inside that room stood a blonde woman with a notably large bust, right in the middle of changing her clothes.

In the brief second their eyes met, Yumesaki didn't even have time to react before the woman seemingly teleported, appearing instantly right in front of him.

A slender, pale hand clamped firmly onto his head as she asked in a cold, piercing voice, "Who are you?"

She wasn't speaking Mandarin. It was Japanese.

Yet, Yumesaki understood her perfectly.

In that moment, Yumesaki's mind was a whirlwind of confusion, mostly because he recognized exactly who this woman was.

Her face was far too familiar—especially the violet diamond-shaped mark centered on her brow.

Even though she had transitioned from a two-dimensional drawing to a living, breathing three-dimensional person, Yumesaki knew her identity immediately.

The Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf. The granddaughter of the God of Shinobi, Hashirama Senju. The world's greatest Medical-nin.

Tsunade.

Though he had no idea why an anime character was standing in front of him in the flesh, he did the only thing he could think of: he shouted at the top of his lungs.

"I'm not a bad guy! Please don't kill me!"

He knew all too well that Tsunade possessed Monstrous Strength. She could truly kill him in an instant. With just a flick of her wrist, she could crush his skull like an overripe fruit.

He was standing on the razor-thin edge between life and death.

In that moment, Yumesaki's legs turned to jelly. He could have sworn that was the closest he had ever been to the reaper's scythe.

Fortunately, Tsunade didn't deliver a fatal blow. She stayed her hand, granting Yumesaki a chance to keep breathing.

Later on, Tsunade would tell Yumesaki that there were a few reasons why she hadn't killed him then and there.

First, she suffered from Hemophobia—a debilitating fear of blood. She couldn't stand the sight of it.

Second, Yumesaki possessed no Chakra fluctuations whatsoever. He was just an ordinary civilian; she didn't view him as a credible threat or an assassin.

Third, the language Yumesaki spoke wasn't the language of her world, and yet, she could understand his meaning perfectly.

Fourth, and most importantly, the area outside her bedroom door was supposed to be a hallway.

Instead, it had transformed into a living room she had never seen before.

Driven by a spark of curiosity, Tsunade had spared him.

Later, she would admit that it was the wisest decision she had ever made in her life.

To make a long story short, after a series of tense communications, the misunderstanding between the two was eventually cleared up.

During their talks, Yumesaki realized that he had awakened a very special ability.

He could connect to another world through any door.

That was the reason he had encountered Tsunade. When he had rushed to the toilet that morning, he had unintentionally activated this power, linking his bathroom door to the world of Naruto.

He didn't know where the power came from, but it was his nonetheless.

Yumesaki didn't try to hide this ability from Tsunade.

On one hand, she was a direct witness, so hiding it was impossible.

On the other hand, Yumesaki felt that being honest about his power would be more beneficial to him in the long run.

Thus, after they became more acquainted, he enthusiastically invited Tsunade to his world and showed her the Naruto manga.

After spending an entire day binge-reading the series, Tsunade was left in a state of absolute shock.

What? Sarutobi-sensei actually dies at the hands of Orochimaru?

What? I'm actually moved by that brat Naruto Uzumaki? Not only do I cure my phobia of blood, but I even take the position of Fifth Hokage?

What? Sasuke Uchiha actually defects?

What? The Fourth Hokage was killed by his own student, Obito Uchiha? And Obito teamed up with Itachi to massacre the Uchiha Clan?

Second Granduncle was right... the Uchiha really are a cursed, wicked clan. They're all a bunch of lunatics.

But as she continued reading—seeing Jiraiya fall in battle, Nagato destroying the village, the Fourth Shinobi World War, and the resurrection of Madara Uchiha—Tsunade was rendered speechless.

Especially the finale: Madara being backstabbed by Black Zetsu, the descent of Kaguya Otsutsuki, the appearance of the Sage of Six Paths, and Naruto and Sasuke sealing Kaguya away once more.

She truly couldn't hold back her emotions anymore.

While Tsunade didn't boast about it, she was confident in her own strength. She was one of the Legendary Sannin, a titan of the ninja world. She had her pride.

But what was with that "clash of gods" power creep at the end?

Was that even the same ninja world she knew? As the Fifth Hokage of Konoha, she felt almost irrelevant.

Do I have no dignity left?

Fine, she could accept not being on the same level as her grandfather Hashirama, or Madara, Kaguya, the Sage, or Obito as the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki.

Naruto was the Child of Prophecy, and Sasuke was the reincarnation of Indra's Chakra. She could swallow that, too.

But what was the deal with Might Guy?

A Taijutsu specialist who couldn't even mold Ninjutsu had actually suppressed Madara Uchiha by using the Eight Inner Gates Formation.

Even if it was only temporary, the power of the Night Guy was so terrifying it defied all logic.

It was no wonder that even a man as arrogant as Madara Uchiha proclaimed him the strongest in Taijutsu.

At that point, Tsunade really couldn't take it anymore.

Yumesaki still hadn't forgotten the way the expressions on Tsunade's face had shifted through a kaleidoscope of shock and disbelief. It had been a sight to behold.

Just when Tsunade thought that while her world's future was chaotic, it would at least end on a stable note, Yumesaki placed the Boruto series in front of her.

This time, Tsunade went completely numb.

Jigen, Kashin Koji, Isshiki Otsutsuki, Momoshiki Otsutsuki, Karma, the Kara organization, Shinjutsu... there were even Otsutsuki Gods who transcended dimensions.

Shibai Otsutsuki.

Tsunade was forced to admit that it felt as though she had never truly understood the ninja world at all.

Or rather, the world she knew was just the tip of the iceberg.

Now that she understood, she felt a crushing sense of despair.

The ninja world... is it really destined for so much calamity?

What was she supposed to do? Leave it be? She wasn't cold-hearted or cruel enough for that.

But if she tried to intervene, did she even have the power?

Compared to the monsters appearing in the future, what was the difference between a Fifth Hokage and a commoner on the street?

Just as Tsunade was lost in her confusion, Yumesaki showed her other manga—like One Piece, Bleach, Doraemon, and notably, Dragon Ball.

Especially Dragon Ball.

A power level of two hundred could destroy the moon. Ten thousand could vaporize the Earth. Frieza, with a base power level of five hundred and thirty thousand, was feared as the Emperor of the Universe.

Compared to monsters like that, the Otsutsuki Clan was nothing.

Not to mention Frieza's full power reaching one hundred and twenty million, only to be defeated in an instant by Son Goku in his Super Saiyan form.

And Super Saiyan had forms one, two, three, four, and even Super Saiyan God.

Beyond that were Angels, Gods of Destruction, and Zeno, who stood above all universes and could erase one with the flick of a finger.

Compared to that group, the so-called Otsutsuki "Gods" were basically nobodies.

And besides these abnormal beings, the world of Dragon Ball also had magic and miraculous items like the Dragon Balls themselves.

Even if the Earth blew up, it could be restored with a simple wish.

Once she finished Dragon Ball, Yumesaki pointed to himself with a grin. "You understand my ability now. Since I can connect to the world of Naruto, I can naturally connect to other worlds as well."

"So, what do you say? Do you want to come with me? Let's head to other worlds to find a way to save yours and bring true peace to the ninja world."

What else could Tsunade do? She could only go along with it.

Because Yumesaki truly did have the power to cross between worlds.
