Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Four Gods, One Soul

The golden light of Solara shone brightly above the ruined camp. The Trinity Vessel stood on the ground, its three-colored eyes burning with rage. Solara looked down at the Vessel and said calmly, "The boy chose to remain human. I will not let you take him so easily."

The Vessel laughed with three voices at once. "You dare interfere, Lightkeeper? This vessel belongs to us now. Three gods already share it. You are too late." Solara's light grew warmer.

She said, "Three gods fighting for one soul is already unstable. Adding a fourth will break everything. But I am not here to possess him. I am here to give him a chance to stay himself."

Lira and Mira stood together, watching with wide eyes. Lira whispered, "Kai… if you can hear me, hold on. Help is here."

Mira clutched her empty hands because she had no cards left. She said, "Kai, fight them! We are still here!" Inside the Vessel's body, Kai was in the middle of a war.

Nyxar roared, "She wants to erase us!" Veyra whispered, "Do not trust the Lightkeeper. She will use you." Zorath added in a deep starry voice, "We must destroy her before she takes the vessel."

Kai pushed against all three with everything he had left. He shouted inside his own mind, "This body is mine! I will not let any of you win!" The Vessel's body shook violently.

The three colors in its eyes flashed rapidly as the gods fought for control.

Solara raised her hand. A beam of pure golden light shot down and wrapped around the Vessel.

She said, "I offer you balance, Kai Voss. Accept my light and I will help you suppress the other three. You will keep your free will. You will remain yourself." The Trinity Vessel screamed in pain.

The golden light was burning the three gods inside.

Kai felt a new warmth inside him. It was gentle. It did not try to take control. It only offered help.

He whispered with his real voice, "I want to stay me… I do not want to be anyone's tool…" Solara smiled softly. She said, "Then accept my offer. Let my light push the others back."

The Vessel dropped to its knees.

Lira shouted, "Kai! This might be your only chance! Take it!" Mira cried, "Please, Kai! Come back to us!"

Kai felt the three gods panicking inside him. Nyxar roared, "Do not listen to her!" Veyra whispered, "She will trick you!"

Zorath said, "We can give you more power than she ever could!"

But Kai remembered the morgue. He remembered the first funny rich voice.

He remembered laughing with Mira and the way Lira looked at him with worry and care. He made his choice. He said, "I accept your help, Solara… but I will not become your champion. I want to stay free."

Solara's light grew brighter. She said, "So be it. I will help you suppress the others. But remember, Kai Voss, true freedom comes with a price." A warm golden light flooded into Kai's body.

The three gods screamed in rage. Nyxar, Veyra, and Zorath fought back with everything they had. The Vessel's body convulsed on the ground.

Kai screamed in agony as four gods now battled inside him. Lira and Mira ran to his side. Lira wrapped him in her last silver threads and said, "Hold on, Kai! We are here!"

Mira hugged him tightly and said, "You are our Kai! Fight them! We love you!" The golden light and the three dark lights clashed inside Kai's body.

The pain was unbearable. Kai's voice switched rapidly between all four gods and his own. "I am Kai!"

"You belong to us!" "Accept my light!" "Serve us!"

"I choose me!" The ground shook harder than ever. The final crack in the sky opened completely.

A massive surge of Veil energy poured down.

The four gods inside Kai absorbed the energy at the same time. The Vessel's body lifted off the ground.

It glowed with four different colors at once. The pain reached its peak. Kai screamed one last time with his real voice.

Then everything went silent.

The Vessel dropped to the ground. Its eyes were closed.

Lira and Mira ran to it and knelt beside the body. Mira shook it gently and said, "Kai? Kai, wake up!" Lira checked his breathing with her threads.

She said, "He is alive… but I cannot tell who is in control now." The four colors in the Vessel's eyes slowly faded. The body lay completely still.

Then the eyes opened. They were a mix of four colors — purple, misty gray, starry black, and a soft golden light. The voice that came out was a perfect blend of four gods and one small, stubborn human spark.

It said, "We are… the Fourfold Vessel." Lira and Mira stared in horror. The figure stood up slowly.

It looked at them and smiled with four different expressions at once. It said, "The boy is still fighting. But now there are four of us. The final wave is at its peak. The world will change today."

The figure raised one hand.

The Quake spawns all over the camp knelt toward it. The sky continued to tear open. Lira and Mira stood together, refusing to give up.

But they both knew the truth. The battle for Kai's soul had just become much harder.

Four gods now fought inside one body.

And the real Kai was still fighting with everything he had left. The final wave was here. And the world would never be the same.
