Chapter 9: A Near Miss and a Suddenn Discovery

The weather was breathtaking; the sky was draped in heavy clouds, and a cool, gentle breeze swept through the air. Radha set off for the airport to begin her journey back to Mumbai. Chanchal, overwhelmed with sadness at her friend's departure, accommpanied her to say good bye. Her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony, embraced Radha warmly. "Don't forget us once you're back with your father, beta," they said affectionately.

As they reached the airport, Chanchal felt a heavy heart, yet she understood that Radha's true happiness lay back in India, anchored to the memories of Amar.

The Unknown Encounter

The airport was teeming with travelers. Suddenly, Chanchal received an urgent call from a friend in need of help. Sensing her dilemma, Radha insisted she go. "Don't worry about me, Chanchal. You go help her." After a final warning to stay safe and call upon arrival, Chanchal hurried away.

Radha sat on a terminal chair, waiting for her flight. Next to her sat a young man, dressed sharply and looking incredibly handsome. He was engrossed in his laptop when he suddenly began to hiccup. Noticing he had run out of water, Radha offered her bottle. "Here, drink some water. It will help with the hiccups."

The young man took a sip and returned the bottle with a polite smile. "Thank you. By the way, I'm Amar Mehra."

Radha froze. The name "Amar" echoed in her soul, but the surname "Mehra" threw her off. It's just a coincidence, she thought. This poised, wealthy man cannot be my Amar. She found herself staring at him, unable to blink, lost in the familiarity of his eyes without even realizing why.

When her flight was anounced, Radha hurried away in a daze, accidentally leaving her bag behind. "Excuse me, Madam!" Amar called out behind her. "You forgot your bag!" Radha rushed back, took the bag, and muttered a quick "Thanks" before disappearing into the crouwd without even revealing her name.

Fate had brought them face-to-face, yet they remained strangers. Amar was returning to Bangalore after a business deal in London, and Radha was headed for Mumbai. They were on separate flights, unaware that their hearts had just brushed against each other.

Homecoming and a New Lead

Upon reaching her home in Mumbai, Radha found the house strangely quiet. She was met by Ramlal, a cook her father had hired after she moved to London. Feeling the weight of her mother's absence, Radha stood before her mother's portrait and wept. "Why did you leave me so soon, Ma? Life is so empty without you."

Ramlal rushed out, concerned. "Madam, who are you? Please, don't cry." He offered her a glass of water and, once she calmed down, he realized who she was. "Oh! You are Radha Madam! Master speaks of you constantly."

He informed her that her father, Mr. Khanna, had left for Bangalore on urgent business and would return in two days. Radha's eyes lit up. Papa is in Bangalore! This was her chance. She could surprise her father and, more importantly, search for the person she had truly come back for.

"Ramlal Kaka, please don't tell Papa I'm coming. I want to surprise him," she instructed. She barely touched her food before preparing to leave for Bangalore immediately. Since the family driver was with her father, she stepped out to hail a taxi.

As she walked out of the gates, she ran into her old house help—the woman who had cared for her years ago. "Kaki! Do you remember me? It's Radha!"

The old woman looked at her in shock, then a smile spread across her face. "Radha beti? Is it really you?"

Radha reached out to hold her hand, but as she did, her gaze fell upon something the woman was wearing. Radha's heart leaped with a sudden, electrifying joy.

What did Radha see on the woman's hand that filled her with such hope? Is it a link to Amar's past, or a sign of things to come?
