Chapter 20 - Problem solver

I simply commanded my bug to swipe across the throats of the five men in blue correctional institute outfits and return. The scene that followed was a sight that made the soldier across the bridge shudder in fear. There was no fighting back or anything like that, the Skirge moved far too fast for that. It turned into a black blur that passed the exposed throats of these five men and returned as blood left their bodies from the deep lacerations now there. Contrary to what movies and shows would have you believe getting your throat slit isn't an instant death.-

You don't just keel over immediately dead after it happens. In fact it takes a few minutes for you to actually die from it. First you go lightheaded as your brain stops receiving blood and actually loses it instead. Then you pass out and only after that does your brain and body really start dying. What this looked like in this case was five men grabbing their throats with terrified faces for a short bit before collapsing and dying. There was also a serious mess as their cut arteries pumped out a lot of blood all over the ground.-

With the "welcoming committee" out of the way I pushed my bike up against the side of the fence until I could get it into Primm proper without having to get anywhere near the minefield. The NCR soldier guarding the bridge that was supposed to be the only way in or out just stared nervously. His eyes more than once flicked to the Skirge that was sitting on my shoulder. Once up in the town properly I left my bike to go loot the five corpses.-

A bit gruesome maybe but I knew how this world worked and if I didn't someone else absolutely would. They all had guns even if only the most common ten millimeter and varmint rifles. Three of them had a few sticks of dynamite that I snatched because explosives are always useful. Not usually for fighting people but there be monsters in the wasteland. I didn't bother taking the clothes from the dead as they were all soaked through with blood and .... other things. They only had about sixty caps between them and a few hundred of the NCR's paper money which was better than nothing I suppose. Other than that they just had a few boxes of ammo for their weapons that I took as well.-

I gave the soldier across the way a two finger salute with a grin before I headed over to the double doors of the Vikki and Vance casino. I left my bug to guard my bike as I raised my hand and knocked on the door. I didn't flinch when it opened with a shotgun barrel pointed at my chest by an old man with dark sun kissed skin. -

"The hell are you supposed to be?" the old man asked confused as he lifted the gun and let me in.

"Just a traveler passing through. Didn't exactly get a warm welcome when I came to town though. Hope you don't mind that I killed the five fellows that were shooting at me?" I asked and he chuckled.

"Let me guess, blue NCR correctional outfitted bunch?" he asked and I nodded. "Powder gangers is what they call themselves on account of the dynamite they've got a stock of. Bunch of former prisoners at the NCR's correctional facility a bit to the north of here. If anything lad you've done me and Primm a favor clearing them out." he said patting me on the shoulder with a smile.

"I take it from the way you answered the door that they've not exactly been the friendliest bunch since they've arrived?" I said and he nodded.

"Killed McBain, the sheriff, and captured his Deputy, Beagle. Most of them are holed up in the Bison Steve hotel. Have a nice bag of caps in it if you think you can clear them out, figure you seem the capable enough sort. Names Johnson Nash by the way." the old man said holding his hand out for a hand shake.

"Alex. Toss in a discount on buying and selling and I'll take care of your ganger problem. At least the ones you currently have anyways." I said with a grin as I shook his hand.

"Ha! You drive a hard bargain but I can accept a bit of a loss if it means the rest of these folk can return home without worrying about that lot. Deal." he said and I nodded.

"Alright well before I head over to the hotel I'll need something. Nothing crazy or anything, just some bobby pins. Got some extra guns or chems I can trade for them." I said casually.

He nodded and I ended up trading a varmint rifle for a box of twenty bobby pins. With that in hand I headed out of the casino and over to my bike.

"Go cut the throats of anyone dressed like that in the town and return here." I ordered the Skirge before waiting.

"These "powder gangers" seem like poor examples of civility. Are they considered raiders?" Adam asked curiously.

"Pretty close actually. Better equipped and organized but otherwise yeah." I said honestly.

"Are groups like this considered common?" Adam asked seriously.

"Unfortunately. Without the rules and means to incentivize good behavior and living many choose violence instead of hard work to survive. It's also pretty common for the psychos to become raiders as it lets them do whatever sick things they might wish. It's always best to shoot first and ask questions never when a raider is involved." I said firmly.

Soon enough the Skirge returned and I left my soldier guy guarding my bike and stuff as I loaded two of my ten millimeter pistols. I held one in my hand while the other was set at my belt in case I needed to reload.-

I wasn't nearly stupid enough to think that I could just reload mid fight without whatever was trying to kill me taking advantage of that gap in fire. I pushed open the door of the hotel and immediately raised my hand to put a hole in the head of the ganger guarding the entrance. I looked at my hand holding the gun speechlessly at the smooth clean execution.-

"That was the armors aim correction function. It automatically aligns your weapons with the intended target via eye tracking and hand positioning." Adam said proudly.

"You gave the suit aimbot!?" I said incredulous.

"Affirmative. The suit makes it's wearer highly competent in the handling of firearms and melee weaponry." Adam said proudly.

"It works for melee too!? Jesus Christ man this armor would be a nightmare in the wrong hands." I said shaking my head.
