Chapter 3 - Awaken jolt

"A demon Lord from the depths of hell uses the element of fire, but it's quite different from Mother Nature's flame. He created his own flame – blue flames that have a higher..."

I suddenly interrupted, "Blue flame, blah blah blah. What's his business with my city, and why the hell does he want it gone and destroyed? That's my question."

Shao Lung replies, "He is a destroyer, and more importantly, he wants the gems of the four cities – the gems keeping your elements alive: fire, water, air, and earth. He targeted your city first because he sees you all as weaklings."

"I've said enough for now. You have wasted a long time here. It's time to accept your fate, Denki Kusukabe. Will you fight for your city?!" said with a loud voice.

I hesitated at first, but then I asked a question, "Hey, dragon guy, how will I fight without my element? Am hopeless with it, aren't I?"

Shao Lung replies, "When the time comes, I will lend you my strength."

Then, suddenly, my eyes opened. I saw the sunrise, looked around, and found out I was on my bed. I felt a headache. Then Mom rushed in.

"Denki? Denki! Are you alright? I saw you last night on the ground near an alley. I also saw you holding a strange item. I had a bad feeling about it, so I threw it away."

"Oh, okay, Mom. What you did... what?! Why the hell would you do that? Where did you toss it? Do you even know what it is?"

Then I remembered something. "Bullshit, Mom, what's today's date?"

She replies, "It's March 16th, Denki."

Darn! I yelled with a loud voice and rushed to go. "This is the day for the Gale race, Mom. I can't miss it."

Then I quickly rushed outside, grabbed all my things, and sprinted forward faster than ever. I took the same shortcut that I took yesterday night, hoping that when I passed by, I might see the green orb. When I got there, I slowed down a bit, checking the area for a green glow, but I didn't spot anything. So, I let it go and sprinted right for the academy.

When I got to the gate, my breath was panting hardly, like I already did my part of the race. I went inside and saw the event was already taking place, but my turn to race hadn't begun. So, I sat somewhere and tried to catch my breath and rest.

But before I could even close my eyes, I heard my name, "Denki Kusukabe, come out to the field for your race!"

My heart beat pounded even faster. I felt the fear of losing, since I couldn't even breathe well. My legs were shaking for the first time because of a race. I couldn't afford to lose this race; my speed was my pride. I had got to win.

So, I went forward into the field, facing random people, including some of my classmates and Rato, my rival. He looked at me in a pityful way and said, "What happened to you? You look very tired, like you haven't slept for a while. Hmph, seem like you're gonna lose this one."

I replied aggressively, "Shut it, bastard. I won't lose. Never!"

Rato replies, "Alright, alright. Good luck, Denki."

Before I knew it, the race started by the use of a sport Gale gun. I sprinted forward faster than ever, crossing my limit. But before I knew it, I got slower and slower. My breath – I couldn't breathe properly. I didn't want to lose, but I felt like I wanted to fall.

Then I yelled, "No! I won't fall. I will never fall."

Then I hardened one step on the ground to boost forward. Suddenly, the rain started falling hard. Then I felt a jolt of lightning from my feet. It felt overwhelming. Thunder blights surrounded my body like an armor, and so with just one step, as fast as the sound of lightning, I reached the finish line.

For a minute, everywhere went silent. Everyone was stunned by what just happened. Then, suddenly, the rain cleared out. Then, before I could move a muscle, I fell straight to the ground. My leg couldn't move; my whole body was paralyzed. I ended up passing out.
