"Congratulations on getting the King as your sponsor!" Bekky said, bouncing in place before Hajin.
"I knew you saved Didi, but the King claimed you in front of the entire court," she continued, pointing at his chest.
"That is insane!" Bekky added, delighted by the attention her voice attracted.
Didi caught her arm and pulled her back one step.
"Bekky, please calm down," she said, color rising into her cheeks.
"You are drawing far too much attention to us," Didi warned, glancing toward the heirs now watching their corner.
Bekky laughed at the strange looks coming from nearby nobles.
"Who cares what these stiff people think?" she asked, slipping free of Didi's grip.
"This party is boring anyway," Bekky continued, waving toward the ballroom's jeweled crowd.
"We should slip through the back doors and find some real fun in the lower districts," she suggested, smiling as though abandoning a royal banquet required no planning.
