Chapter 10 - Part 10: The Shadow Spire-

The journey to the Shadow Spire took three days.

Three days beneath darkening skies.

Three days watching more stars disappear each night.

Aren, Lyra, and Kael traveled without rest, driven by a single goal: stop the Fallen King before the Void King was freed.

The towering black fortress grew larger with every mile.

By the time they reached its base, it seemed to touch the clouds themselves.

Dark energy flowed around it like smoke.

The ground nearby was dead and lifeless.

No grass.

No trees.

No birds.

Only silence.

"This place feels wrong," Kael said quietly.

Lyra nodded.

"The darkness has poisoned everything around it."

Aren stared at the massive gates.

Then he took a deep breath.

"Let's end this."

The gates opened before they could touch them.

A cold wind rushed out.

It felt as though the fortress itself was inviting them inside.

The halls of the Shadow Spire were endless.

Black stone walls stretched in every direction.

Strange purple flames burned in floating lanterns.

Every step echoed through the darkness.

Suddenly, a voice filled the corridor.

"Welcome, Star Bearer."

The Fallen King appeared at the far end of the hall.

His red eyes glowed brighter than ever.

"You came exactly as I expected."

Aren stepped forward.

"Why are you doing this?"

The king laughed.

"Because the stars abandoned us."

His voice echoed through the fortress.

"They choose favorites. They grant power to some and ignore others."

Darkness gathered around him.

"I will create a new world."

"A world where power belongs to those strong enough to claim it."

Lyra raised her sword.

"You're willing to destroy everything for that?"

The king smiled.

"Everything must break before it can be remade."

Without warning, shadow warriors emerged from the walls.

An entire army.

The battle began instantly.

Kael charged first.

His sword flashed through the darkness.

Lyra fought beside him, moving faster than Aren had ever seen.

Aren raised the Heart Shard.

Blue light exploded outward.

Shadow warriors vanished wherever the starlight touched them.

But there were too many.

Hundreds.

Maybe thousands.

The fortress shook as light and darkness collided.

Then the floor suddenly cracked.

Aren lost his balance.

The ground beneath him collapsed.

He fell into darkness.

Far below the fortress.

When Aren opened his eyes, he found himself inside a hidden chamber.

At the center stood a crystal unlike any he had ever seen.

It wasn't blue.

It wasn't black.

It shone with pure white light.

The Heart Shard around his neck began glowing wildly.

A voice echoed through the room.

Ancient.

Powerful.

Kind.

"At last."

Aren looked around.

"Who's there?"

The white crystal brightened.

"I am the First Star."

The creator of all starlight.

The source from which every star had been born.

Aren could barely speak.

"The First Star?"

The light pulsed gently.

"The Void King cannot be defeated by strength alone."

"Then how do I stop him?"

For a moment, the chamber became silent.

Then the answer came.

"You must unite the Five Star Shards."

Aren's eyes widened.

"Five?"

"You carry only one."

Images appeared around him.

Four more shards scattered across Elyndor.

Hidden.

Lost.

Waiting.

Only together could they awaken the power capable of sealing the Void King forever.

Above, in the highest chamber of the Shadow Spire, the Fallen King stood before the black crystal prison.

Cracks spread across its surface.

Dark energy poured into the sky.

The giant violet eyes inside slowly opened wider.

A terrible voice echoed across the kingdom.

"The end draws near."

Across Elyndor, stars continued to vanish.

And now Aren had learned the truth.

The Heart Shard was only the beginning.

To save the kingdom, he would need to find the remaining four shards before time ran out.
