Chapter 25 - "Ghost battles:Exposed"

"All Might, we need to confirm the identity of this individual."

Naomasa Tsukauchi spoke with a heavy, professional solemnity. All Might blinked, the shadow of his exhaustion flickering behind his heroic smile, before finally nodding. "Well... okay."

Two hours later, the air in the grand lobby of the Yaoyorozu Mansion was thick with the scent of high-grade black tea and tension. The Yaoyorozu couple sat opposite the detective and the Symbol of Peace.

"Mr. and Mrs. Yaoyorozu, hello. I apologize for the sudden intrusion," Naomasa said, shaking hands with the father of the conglomerate. They were old acquaintances, but the presence of All Might—standing tall in his muscular form—elevated the meeting from a routine inquiry to a state-level event.

To the Yaoyorozu family, money was power, but All Might was something else entirely. If the Yaoyorozus represented financial hegemony, All Might symbolized the absolute military authority of a living deterrent.

"What brings such distinguished guests to our home?" the mother asked, her smile polite but cautious.

"We are looking for Wu An," Naomasa said, cutting straight to the point.

"Wu-kun? He and Momo went out early this morning," the father replied.

Naomasa's brow furrowed. "Together?"

"Yes," the mother added with a nod. "For the past few months, Wu An has been... training Momo. The girl has made incredible progress under his guidance."

"Oh? I'd be very interested to see the training methods of Young Wu An," All Might said, his signature white teeth gleaming. "What kind of training is it?"

"We don't know," the mother admitted with a helpless shrug. "Momo has never been willing to tell us."

The Lawless Zone

In a derelict, chaotic corner of Kanagawa, the "training" was in full swing.

Wu An leaned against a graffiti-stained wall, his hands in his pockets, watching with cold, detached eyes. A few yards away, Momo Yaoyorozu was surrounded by four burly thugs.

Flash.

A long staff appeared in her hands in less than a second—a massive improvement from the four or five seconds it used to take her. With a sharp twist of her wrist, she parried a rusted blade and struck the man's shoulder. He cried out, collapsing to his knees.

The other three rushed her. The Momo of a few months ago would have panicked, but this Momo was calm. She threw the staff, catching one man in the ankle to trip him, then dove between the remaining two.

A faint pink light shimmered from her palms. Two compact pistols appeared instantly. She spun, pressing the cold metal barrels against the backs of the thugs' heads.

"Um... big brother," one of the thugs stammered, looking at Wu An. "We've finished the 'training' with your woman... can we... can we go now?"

Momo's face turned a violent shade of crimson at the word "woman," her composure momentarily shattering. Wu An simply waved a hand. The thugs scrambled, dragging their injured companions away as if the devil himself were chasing them.

"Your form was good today," Wu An said, walking toward her. "You handled them before they even realized they should use their Quirks. That's all I can teach you for now."

Momo felt a strange pang of frustration. Does that mean the training is over? she wondered. But she didn't ask. She simply fell into step behind him as they headed for the tram station. She had grown used to the view of his back.

The Evidence

An hour and a half later, they stepped into the mansion.

"We're back," Momo called out.

"Momo! Come to the hall immediately," her mother's voice rang out. "All Might and Detective Tsukauchi are here to see you and Wu An."

Momo froze. Wu An raised an eyebrow, a familiar annoyance bubbling up. Nothing good ever comes from the police, he thought.

They sat down—Momo next to her mother, Wu An on a single sofa, separate from the group. Naomasa wasted no time. He laid out several high-resolution photos on the coffee table.

"We're investigating a series of 'mysterious battles' that have occurred across the country recently," Naomasa explained. "Exaggerated signs of destruction, high-tier combat, yet no one has filed a report."

Momo looked down at the photos. Her heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird. Two of the scenes were unmistakable—they were the exact locations where Wu An had forced her to fight.

I... I think I've committed a crime, she realized, her hands beginning to tremble.

Wu An, however, didn't blink. He looked at the photos, then at the Detective, his expression as cold as The World itself.

A single relevant follow-up question:

With the police now connecting the dots to their illegal vigilante training, do you think Wu An will attempt to intimidate the detective, or will he use Momo's high-standing family name as a shield to walk away scot-free?
