His phone rang at eleven-forty.
He was in a meeting.
He looked at the screen.
Caelan.
Caelan did not call during meetings. Caelan sent a message if something needed attention and waited for a response and did not call at eleven-forty on a Thursday during a framework consultation session with three sector representatives and Vera Osei.
He excused himself.
Stepped into the corridor.
Answered.
"Riven came back," Caelan said.
"I know. Helena texted me this morning."
"Did she tell you the other part."
Seren looked at the corridor wall.
"What other part."
A pause.
"Riven has someone," Caelan said. "Someone he's known for years. Someone he realised he had been — his words — filing under the wrong category."
"Alright," Seren said slowly.
"Seren."
"Yes."
"His name is Adrian."
The corridor was very quiet.
"My Adrian," Seren said.
"Yes."
"My brother Adrian."
"Yes."
Seren looked at the wall.
