[Welcome, Kael Warren, to the Eternal System.]
Kael was surprised to find out that he was seeing such a thing in front of his own eyes. Jason had told him about the System and the translucent azure panel that appeared in the center of his vision when important notifications came through. He just didn't expect to see it happen to him in this place after his death.
[As you have been within the Abyssal Sea for some time, your soul has been primed for Integration with the wider System. You are the second Terran native to appear here after death.]
This information caught Kael off-guard. He knew that, while there were many deaths happening every day back home, someone had to be important enough to come here and get access to the System. The problem was that he didn't know who.
[Unlike the previous native who appeared within the Sea, you will not have access to choosing your own race and boons. You will, however, be allowed to select your destination for transmigration. These destinations will be curated based on the pre-existing selections and soul resonance.]
"So the System won't identify the person before me, huh?" Kael thought to himself as he read the latest notification. While he would have liked to know who is predecessor was, he had some suspicions on who it might have been if he used his own situation as a basis to form his hypothesis.
Before he could continue that specific line of thought, Kael noticed the panel changed again.

[The following list of destinations is based on racial compatibility and soul resonance. To avoid showing over 500 possible destinations, the System has elected to show you the top four destinations. In part of choosing when and where to go, you have been granted one (1) opportunity to select up to two (2) universes:]
- Warhammer 40,000:
+ In the grimdark far future, there is only War. Based on your racial compatibility and soul resonance, you can transmigrate here to fight for the Imperium, for the Chaos Gods, or take neither side. While this is considered, by both softcore and hardcore fans of the franchise alike, to be the absolute worst place to transmigrate into, this still attracts its fair share of transmigrators.
- DC Universe:
+ Host to an infinite worlds with heroes like the Flash, Batman, Superman, and Green Arrow, this place contains a near-improbable chance of universal and multiversal incursions from all sides. Unlike franchises like Warhammer or Soulsborne titles, this universe has its own problematic forces like Darkseid. Based on your racial compatibility and soul resonance, you can transmigrate here to be a hero, villain, anti-hero, or live like a normal person.
- Marvel Universe:
+ In this wide multiverse, there are beings with power. You will be among them. Based on your racial compatibility and soul resonance, you can transmigrate here to either become a villain, become an Avenger, a SHIELD agent, a HYDRA agent, or transcend the limits of mortality. Unlike the DC Universe, there are consequences to involving other universes or beings from said universes within your own domain that not even the Infinity Stones could fix.
- RuneScape:
+ Set within a universe created by the Elder Goddesses, this high Fantasy world contains elements of adventure and cosmic wars. Based on your racial compatibility and soul resonance, you could live on the world of Gielinor as a human or as a god.

Kael understood why that both Warhammer and Marvel showed up in the top four. While he wasn't much of a fan of the former, only reading the books and watching the animations, he was at least familiar with it through both Steven and Arnold. As for Marvel, all four of them were big fans of the franchise.
They all loved the Infinity Saga and felt so sad that Tony Stark gave his life to end Thanos, but as things went into the Multiverse Saga, Kael knew the only stuff they even bothered to watch was Multiverse ofMadness, the Loki TV series, WandaVision, and Agatha All Along. They didn't even watch the new Thunderbolts movie or many other material that was coming out, but with the latest Marvels movie being The Marvels, Kael managed to convince them all to watch that at least.
That movie was the last movie he got to see with his boyfriends before Charlotte killed him.
"What does it mean?" Kael thought to himself as he looked again at what the screen said about having one opportunity to pick two universes. "Does the System have the power to let me traverse between universes or will it be something else?"
While there wasn't any sort of time limitation to pick, Kael felt like this opportunity had to be thoroughly considered. He knew that, at least from what he understood of the top four picks, the System believed he had some sort of connection to one of the worst places to transmigrate into along with three places that weren't on that far end of the scale. He didn't even consider the rest of the destinations and stuck to the top four places.
The first thing he crossed off was the RuneScape universe. He didn't think he wanted to be in a place where the Elder Goddesses could royally fuck him up or be limited to using runestones to perform magic. He especially noted that, with the recent release of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, there was a bigger headache with Kuldra and her kind being very trigger happy.
Thus, he wasn't selecting that.
Kael already knew that at least one option he was going to select was the Marvel Universe. The reason was that he wanted to help take care of HYDRA, befriend Coulson's team, and potentially become an Avenger that would save Tony's life from snapping Thanos out of existence with the Infinity Stones. That and to beat the fuck out of the purple guy himself.
So, with one universe chosen, there left only one other option. Either Kael chose DC with its varied and messier timelines than Marvel or the infamous hellworld of transmigration itself. There was two other options. He could either save this option for later or discard it.
As he considered his options, he decided to not deal with either for the time being and pressed the option to transmigrate into the Marvel Universe. When he did that, another screen popped up.

[You have selected the following:]
[Marvel Universe]
[None]
[Go Back] || [Confirm and Save] || [Confirm and Discard]

He tapped on the "Confirm and Save" button.
After that, Kael went through what point in the timeline he wanted to appear. It obviously started with the events of Captain America: the First Avenger and went past the events of The Marvels movie, but for the sake of having a measure of safety with knowing what was to come in the future, he decided to arrive prior to the events of the first Iron Man movie.
There were many points in the timeline that were suitable to arrive in too, like just before the events of the first Avengers movie and dealing with both the Chituari invasion and the future Avengers coming back to steal the stones. He could have also chosen to arrive just before the pilot episode of the tv series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D so that he could get involved with Skye and Coulson's team, but the reason why he didn't was because he didn't want to attract HYDRA's attention and have no protection.
With his choices selected, the world went dark around him. Not even the oppressive silence of the Abyssal Sea was left to his senses anymore as the very last thing he saw was the System panel in his vision informing him that his transmigration had begun.
Then, his soul screamed.
