CHAPTER:23 [Monster Unveiled]
The pincer of the crab-like monster that Kai shattered collected its shards and became a whole pincer again and it all happened in a split second when Kai turned around to answer.
The monster which they thought to have defeated wasn't dead, the pincers and the other pieces of the monster that were scattered throughout the cave from the impact of Dona's sword started gathering in one place, unfortunately between the body of the monster and its severed pincer Kai was present and as the pieces rushed towards their body Kai was literally split in half…
"Huh"
One moment he was okay and the next he couldn't feel half his body.
Kai eyes blurred as his upper body fell to the floor…
(What….is….happen–)
Before he could finish the thought the last thing he saw before he blacked out was his friends in panic.

Dona felt a chill ran down her spine as her senses screeched for the incoming danger.
Dona calmed her senses and shouted in a rush…
"GET DOW—"
Suuuuuuuuuuudssssss
All they heard before the bang was a whistling sound akin to a missile.
Dona shouted again as the loud noise settled…
"On guard, it has been demonized!"
Everyone summoned their weapon and watched the grotesque transformation from a crab like to a humanoid creature with enormous pincers.
Graaaakh
The creature growled loudly as it lunged its towering body on small humans.
They struggled for long time against that monster but the creature wasn't dying and regenerating constantly, now the students were strong enough to hold against it but the creature even though it had strength far beyond the constraints of the norm it was not a problem for students under normal circumstances but the creature was demonized and the students didn't exactly had infinite energy.

Kai opened his eyes in a black space…
"Great, again." Kai rubbed his face "ugh, just why am I here again?"
Kai stood up and looked around for a reason since he clearly remembered being split in half by that creature pincers.
As he looked around he noticed that one part of the space was darker than the rest, should i say that it was curiosity that took him to that place?
He reached towards the darkness and before he could touch the darkness sprouted tentacles and gripped his hand only then that Kai realized that this wasn't darkness but instinct, instinct of a devourer as it consumed his consciousness.

Kai's body that was laying on the floor lifeless suddenly became demonic as darkness shrouded his upper body.
His body sprouted tentacles that stretched towards the lower body, after a while of searching it finally found its lower half and attached both of them together, first only the upper half was shrouded in darkness and now it spread towards the lower half as well.
After fixing the body it stood up and there was no sign of Kai on it, only darkness in humanoid form, it had nothing on his face except a wide mouth opened up slowly from one ear to the other ear and as its structure opened, it sprouted big and sharp teeth on it.
Kai consumed by the instinct of the shrouder pointed his hand towards the humanoid creature, suddenly the darkness that was present in the cave moved and swirled around the towering figure of the creature and compressed it into a dark ball of mass.
The darkness took the ball and presented it to Kai, Kai slowly moved his hand toward it, picked it and ate it.
Everyone that was watching this horrifying scene unfold before their eyes quivered and tighten their grip on their weapons, after a while the blonde haired elf spoke in a frightful tone…
"Um, g..guys that's Kai.. right?"
Shino called out to him to check his response…
"Kai, you there?"
Responding to the sounds Kai started walking toward them, Dona said as she formed a defensive stance…
"Something's wro–"
Before she could even finish Kai had already punched her across the cave.
Thud
Shino shouted…
"Everyone run!"
Everyone scattered to different corners of the cave leaving Kai in the middle, Shino's voice echoed as he shouted…
"LEON, bind him."
The elf summoned his wooden staff and started enchanting, vines sprouted throughout the cave and lunged at Kai but before those even came they started withering away from the aura surrounding Kai.
Feng couldn't keep his excitement at bay and lunged at Kai, Shino warned Feng but he was a step late…
"Feng don't–"
Kai jerked his wrist slowly and swatted Feng away like a fly, knocking him out.
Seeing as there was nothing working on Kai, Shino summoned his sword that he got from the dragon lair.
The cave erupted in light as the big shining sword appeared, just as he was about to lunge at Kai Dona appeared with incredible speed, as she swung her sword a wave of pressure spread throughout the cave but Kai blocked it with his hand effortlessly.
Dona looked at the face that only had a wide sharp mouth with fear and disgust just then Kai channeled his energy into her through the sword, Dona face puffed up red and every single vein in her body started bulging and ultimately exploded.
Pssshhss
Her blood created a puddle from its sheer amount, acknowledging that the enemy was dangerous she entered her celestial form, suddenly her beautiful face and hair became even more lustrous and her ear became a little pointy like an elf and her injuries healed in an instant.
She summoned the grimoire she received from the dragon's lair and lunged at Kai and started a barrage of strikes, their speed surpassing the human limits making their fight more like a blur to the other.
"Everyone, take cover."
Shino unsummoned his sword and also just let them tear each other from skin to skin, their fight went on for hours eventually the beastly instinct that devoured Kai exhausted itself and started weakening taking advantage of its weakness Dona launched a full power strike, just before it reached Kai's neck a white blurry figure appeared that looked like flowing water and stopped her sword with one finger…
"NOW, WHO ARE YOU?"
She screamed at Ita but she didn't mind it and looked at Kai's miserable state, her hand entered Kai's body and ripped out the source of the problem and disappeared.
Dona moved towards Kai's body and saw as his transformation reverted leaving his body vulnerable, Dona looked closely and gasped as the Kai before him looked like a fragile cracked glass.

They ended their raid and returned from the dungeon where the teacher who pushed into the ravine was waiting for them, the teacher looked at Dona carrying Kai's body and asked…
"What happened to him?"
Dona replied…
"A tragedy"
The teacher snickered and said…
"Huh, there is one person missing I think."
Dona said with a dull tone as she placed Kai's into the vehicle they came in…
" Someone must've died"
