Rosamund
It was well past midnight when Nevan finally stood at the centre of the ballroom and raised his glass.
"I want to thank every one of you for being here tonight," he said, his voice carrying across the hall effortlessly. "I know many of you were surprised by the private nature of our wedding ceremony. The truth is, my wife and I wanted to begin our marriage in the quietest way possible, away from the pressures of society, so we could find our footing as partners before sharing ourselves with the world." He paused, letting the words settle. "Perhaps that was selfish, but standing here tonight, surrounded by the kingdom's finest, I'm grateful the Crown saw fit to give us the celebration we denied ourselves."
He turned to King Aldric and raised his glass higher. "To the King, for his generosity and his friendship and to my wife, Rosamund, for making Wellspring feel like a home again."
